POSITION: HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER
LOCATIONS: ABUJA


OBJECTIVES:
The position of HR Officer consists of planning, directing, and coordinating HR management activities to maximize the strategic use of HR and maintain functions such as employee compensation, recruitment, personnel policies, capacity building, and regulatory compliance.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform duties such as developing job descriptions, job posting, and hiring analytics
• Administer compensation, benefits, and performance management systems
• Advise managers on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity and recommend needed changes
• Management of recruitment tracking system to ensure no gap in recruitment by Identifying staff vacancies and recruiting, interviewing, and selecting applicants
• Perform difficult staffing duties, including dealing with understaffing, refereeing disputes, firing employees, and administrating disciplinary procedures
• Conduct capacity building /training needs assessment for all team members and organizes pieces of training to close identified gaps
• Plan and conduct new employee orientation/induction to foster a positive attitude toward organizational objectives
• Maintain personnel records – health insurance, pension, leave, etc, and ensure the relevant HR database is up to date, accurate, and complies with relevant legislation.
• Interpret data, analyze results using excel and provide ongoing HR reports
• Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of subordinates and staff relating to employment, compensation, labour relations and employee relations
• Represent the organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations
• Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting, and administering contracts, and helping resolve work-related problems
• Assist with staff recruitment (sending invitations, scheduling interviews, reference checking etc) and inform job applicants of their acceptance or rejection for employment
• responsible for issuing of references letter to referees of newly employed staff, verification of certificates, and follow-up on responses from former employers and referees of newly employed staff and ensuring that all documents in respect of new employees are received in good time to facilitate prompt confirmation of appointment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS.
• BSc in Human Resources or a related field
• Other professional qualifications are desirable
• At least 4 years post-graduation experience in HR
• Highly computer literate
• Database management skills
• Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, to motivate, develop, and direct people as they work, and identify the best people for the job
• Ability to be aware of others’ reactions and understand why they react as they do, to use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and to bring others together and try to reconcile differences
• Integrity – being honest and ethical
