Job Title: Human Resources Manager
Location: Abuja
Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team. As the sole HR expert, you’ll play a critical role in shaping our human resources strategies and fostering a supportive work environment. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide spectrum, including strategic and succession planning, recruitment, volunteer services management, performance & training program development, fostering healthy employee relations, overseeing welfare programs, and devising robust HR policies. A significant part of your role will also involve team and culture building, applying HR analytics for strategic insights, and aiding in collaborative funding initiatives. Furthermore, you’ll be adept at managing a diverse team of both remote and on-site staff across various locations, ensuring cohesive HR support and policy implementation throughout the organisation.
We’re looking for someone with 8+ years of HR experience, preferably in the non-profit sector, and a deep understanding of Nigerian labour laws, excellent communication and leadership skills, and proficiency in Zoho People, Microsoft Office 365 Suite, and HR analytics tools. We’re looking for an excellent Human Resources Manager to join our team! As the sole HR professional in the organisation, you’ll be responsible for leading and managing all human resources activities to support our organisational goals and mission. Our aim is to attract, develop, and retain a skilled, motivated workforce, including staff and volunteers. This role requires a strategic focus on creating a positive and friendly work environment and fostering professional development. Key Responsibilities: Please review the following duties and responsibilities

  • Strategic HR Planning: Develop and implement HR strategies that support the organisation’s strategic goals.
  • Recruitment and Talent Acquisition: Manage the whole recruitment process, from job posting to onboarding new hires, ensuring we attract and retain skilled professionals.
  • Volunteer Services Management: Manage volunteer recruitment, coordination, and engagement, ensuring we effectively integrate and recognise their organisational contributions.
  • Performance Management: Design and implement performance management systems that foster employee development and organisational growth.
  • Training and Development: Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for staff and volunteers, focusing on career development to enhance skills and professional growth.
  • Employee Relations: Address employee relations matters, foster a positive work environment, and resolve workplace issues or conflicts.
  • Employee Welfare Programs: Oversee initiatives like health and wellness programs, work-life balance strategies, and employee assistance programs as part of a competitive and fair compensation strategy.
  • HR Policy Development and Compliance: Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures per labour laws and organisational standards.
  • HR Administration: Manage payroll and benefits administration and maintain accurate HR records.
  • Team and Culture Building: Cultivate a solid organisational culture and enhance employee engagement through various initiatives.
  • Reporting and HR Analytics: Utilise HR analytics for informed decision-making, providing regular reports on HR metrics.
  • Succession Planning: Develop and maintain a succession planning process to ensure leadership continuity and the development of key talent.
  • Managing Remote and On-Site Staff: Effectively manage both remote and on-site employees and volunteers across multiple locations, ensuring consistent HR support and policy implementation.
  • Collaborative Funding and Resource Mobilization: Work alongside other divisions to secure funding through grants, donations, and other revenue-generating activities, participating in proposal development and donor engagement.
    Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., CIPM, SHRM) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 8 years of HR experience, with at least two years in a management role, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Nigerian labour laws and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to handle both strategic and administrative aspects of HR.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
  • Proven experience in HR strategy development and implementation.
  • Ability to handle HR issues discretely and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on team development and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Zoho People and other HR software, Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, etc.), and HR analytics tools (Power BI, etc.).
  • Experience in volunteer management and familiarity with funding and resource mobilisation strategies are advantageous.

  • Salary – Grade 3 on PRAWA’s salary scale: At PRAWA, we evaluate and grade all jobs using the PRAWA Grade Profiling Structure. We offer salaries for each job grade that is in line with the local market, but we do not aim for the highest pay rates. Instead, we strive to maintain a balance between fair compensation and the humanitarian work we do.
    Our lowest pay grade considers the need to provide a living wage in each city.
