Job Description

Dhaka Hospital was established by icddr, b in 1962 primarily to meet the urgent need to treat patients, particularly children, with severe diarrhoeal disease. It has since grown into a nationally important centre treating more than 200,000 patients a year. It acts as a beacon illustrating what can be achieved by a hospital facility even within a developing world setting. Dhaka Hospital provides an infrastructure for a wide range of clinical research projects. It also plays a critical role in areas such as disease surveillance, monitoring for antimicrobial resistance and clinical training. Dhaka Hospital offers a full range of services, particularly for diarrhoeal and respiratory disease, with infants and children representing a high proportion of patients. It delivers outstanding care, saving remarkable lives that might otherwise be lost every year.

Key responsibilities:

The Health Worker will report to Nursing Officer and will be responsible for:

  • Counsel patients on feeding, ORS, breast feeding and lactation, hand hygiene, diarrhea prevention etc according to the instruction of physician/nurse;
  • Holding regular counseling session for the indoor patients on the subjects given in the previous article;
  • Help nursing staff to receive patients coming to the ward;
  • Arrange proper bed and accommodation;
  • Provide treatment related support to the patients in the ward;
  • Serve food to the indoor patients;
  • Provide diet education;
  • Check the food quality before serving;
  • Maintain serving register and note observations if any;
  • Keep the patient bedside clean and tidy;
  • Documentation in the Sheba Program when required
  • Identify the patient and give the tag/label who needs/ missed the vaccination;
  • Note food related complaints and address in consultation with the supervisor.

Required qualification and experience:

  • SSC pass or equivalent;
  • 2 years working experience in related field like care giving services of patients, family planning services and advice to clients, health education for patients.

Location: Mohakhali Campus, Dhaka

Number of Post: 4

Contract Type and Duration:

  • Daily Wage basis; duration will be 2months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

  • Daily 988/- taka
  • No other benefits are admissible
