Programme for Emerging Infections is implementing a Social Enterprise Model (SEM) through TB Screening & Treatment Centers (TBSTC) to enhance TB diagnosis, treatment and prevention services in Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet and Rajshahi metropolitan areas. This project is supported by GFATM through the National Tuberculosis Control Programme.
The Health Technologist (Laboratory) will report to the M&E Officer/Project Research Physician. The position holder will perform all laboratory related tasks including pulmonary and extra-pulmonary sample tests by GeneXpert machine and other tests required by the project (MT, HIV screening, HbA1c, RBS, Spirometry etc.) in the field sites or TBSTCs. S/he will be involved in–
- Perform symptoms screening of TB presumptive and enter patient data into system as required by the project by using electronic tools and devices such as Tablet, Desktop, Laptop etc.
- To conduct quality sample collection and proper testing of collected samples in the laboratory using GeneXpert and other instruments;
- Instruct and counsel attending patients to produce a proper sample and perform other tests maintaining SOP;
- Maintain the recording of individual tests in the specific register, maintain required data entry in hard copy/software to secure appropriate report delivery to the client and preparation of periodic reports as required by the Central Management Team (CMT) and NTP/donor;
- Follow-up patients and update medical records as required by the project;
- Operate and handle a wide range of technical equipment including GeneXpert Machine, HbA1c Analyzer, glucometer, printer, tablet, computer, scanner etc.
- Ensure safe operation, perform and support maintenance work of available equipment periodically and share troubleshooting issues with supervisor and technical persons;
- Maintain liaison among the team and other stakeholders in the assigned areas. Inform & connect for proper delivery of reports as per instruction & guideline;
- Conduct outreach activities and any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Required qualifications and experience:
- SSC or equivalent, with Diploma in Medical Technology (Laboratory).
- 3-years’ working experience in diagnostic Laboratories; however, candidates having experience with TB services, and handling GeneXpert machines will be given preference.
Location: Anywhere in Bangladesh.

Contract Type and Duration:
- Short-Term Contractual Service Agreement (CSA) basis;duration will be 11 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.
Salary & Benefits:
- Tk. 30,292/- per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
- Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
