Job Title: Health Safety and Environment Officer – Cement Industry

Location: Gboko, Benue

Description

  • To ensure a safe working environment by managing safety policies and procedures, and responding to safety concerns, conduct risk assessments, and provide training to employees to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct identification, assessment and analysis of the hazardous activities within the operations
  • Conduct various HSE trainings and awareness program including induction training of new staff and visitors.
  • Conduct regular inspections of plant and equipment
  • Conduct regular tool box talks with the shop floor.
  • Inspect on going work to ensure compliance of PTW system.
  • Assist plant managers in conducting JSA as and when required.
  • Conduct surveys to check quality and adequacy of, but are not limited to the followings: Lifting equipment,, Pressure vessels,, Portable electrical equipment,, PPEs,  Scaffoldings and Elevated work.
  • Implement annual HSE improvement plan and monitor its implementation
  • Maintain relevant documents/records for safety are properly maintained at plant
  • Attend all shutdowns and major breakdowns from HSE point of view
  • Comply with all relevant HSE legal requirements
  • Ensure absolute compliance with Dangote 15 Golden HSSE rules for safety of staff, equipment and protection of the Environment.
  • Ensure effective implementation of:
    • NIS ISO 14001: 2015 EMS
    • NIS ISO 9001: 2015 QMS
    • NIS ISO 45001:2018 OHSMS

Requirements

  • Qualified as a HSE Practitioner by a National or internationally recognized organization and hold a Diploma or a Degree in Environmental Science/Health/Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years post qualification experience in Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Management.
  • Ensure that the DCP OHS & EMS policies are understood and implemented at shop floor level.
  • Support plant operations with the implementation of HSE initiatives, management systems, and programs.
  • Conduct Safety and Environmental awareness training and awareness programs in line with the DCP annual HSE goals and targets.
  • Maintain all documents and records as per Nigerian Federal Laws relating to HSE with regard to plant operations.
  • Inspection of plant and equipment is carried out to ensure safe work conditions
