We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Health Promoter – Community Engagement Supervisor
Location: Jega, Kebbi
Employment Type: Full-time

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • In close collaboration with the HP IEC Activities Manager, implementing and supervising educational campaigns according to MSF values, standards, and procedures in order to increase awareness of the targeted population and to promote the prevention and treatment of diseases in the project area.

Accountabilities
HPCE strategy, activities, and monitoring:

  • Actively contribute to the design/adaptation of the HPCE strategy / workplan.
  • Lead and follow up on the implementation of the HPCE strategy / workplan, according to the chronogram.
  • Support participatory approaches and regular patient/community consultations before and during implementation of the HPCE strategy.
  • Organizing health awareness sessions for MSF’s medical and non-medical staff
  • Support in the design of health education materials and participatory methods, applying the right process (pretesting, validation of content, translation).
  • Contribute to rapid assessments and surveys.
  • Actively support in the systematic collection, encoding and reporting of community feedback and rumours.
  • Support the implementation of community-based surveillance (data collection, active case finding, tracing, linkage to care.
  • Responsible for the planning and organization of community meetings (in collaboration with HPCE Manager).
  • Contribute to the community mapping.
  • Monitoring: Ensure the availability of the data collection tools; the data encoding in the database and the quality check.
  • Monitoring: Contribute to the analysis of the monitoring data and look for adjustments (in collaboration with HPCE manager), monthly reporting (MMR, sitrep,…).

Team Management:

  • Contribute to the evaluation of the HP team (with the HPCE manager).
  • Contribute to the development plan for the HP team.
  • Training: Contribute to the needs assessment, design and implementation of training for the HP team, in collaboration with the HPCE manager.
  • Organize regular and systematic supervision of the HP activities and provide on-the-job-coaching.
  • Ensure the planning and practical organization of the activities for the HP team (HP roaster).
  • Ensure the organisation of regular HP team meetings.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Mentor, coach and supervise HP-IEC Officer (ICCM), CHEs and ICCM CORPs in accordance with the project objectives
  • Supervise, coach and mentor HP-IEC officer (ICCM), CHEs and ICCM CORPs regarding health promotion and community engagement.
  • With the support of the HPCE manager, identify and organize and conduct HP trainings for ICCM CORPs and MSF HP staff.
  • Manage leave plans for the HP-IEC Officer assigned to community and ICCM activities.
  • Conduct the evaluations of the HP-IEC Officer (ICCM) with the support of the HPCE manager
  • Ensure HP-IEC officer (ICCM) and ICCM CORPS conduct health education using MSF approved tools in accordance with MSF protocol

Coordinate and conduct meetings with community gatekeepers together with the HPCE manager:

  • Identify and map key actors in ICCM sites and community; coordinate meetings with these actors and be the focal point for networking with these actors (formal and informal authorities)

Plan and implement HP activities in ICCM with the support of the HPCE manager:

  • Implement and monitor HP activities in ICCM (hand washing, health education, mapping, ORS/food/ITN demonstrations) according to HP strategy and chronogram
  • Together with ICCM supervisor, plan and share weekly movement plan
  • Organize and conduct health awareness sessions in the community, TFCs and among MSF staff
  • Participate in HP and ICCM meetings
  • Conduct qualitative HP assessments and surveys
  • Lead ICCM service promotion, social mobilization and acceptance in collaboration with ICCM CORPs and community mobilizers

Collect required data according to HP and medical strategies, analyze the progress of HP work and submit them on a timely manner:

  • Collate, clean, and share ICCM (HP) data with the HPCE Manager and Data supervisor as required
  • Contribute to the analysis and reporting of HP data (monthly, quarterly, annual)

Ensure project gets community perception and needs to make the activities community-friendly and more accepted:

  • Collect, collate and share with PMR, HPCE manager and FC feedback and rumours from the community
  • Together with the HP manager, share regularly activities, data, feedback, and suggestions through monthly meetings (community, MSF staff, ICCM team)

Provide regular updates and feedback to the operations team regarding security in Kebbi state:

Minimum Required Skills and Qualifications
Education:

  • Essential Secondary school diploma.
  • Desirable Degree/Diploma in Public Health, Social sciences, Education, Community Health, Nursing, Behavioural sciences.

Experience:

  • Essential At least 2 years experience in health promotion, team management experience, program implementation Desirable Experience in qualitative methodology
  • Desirable: Experience with MSF or other INGO.

Languages:
Knowledge:

  • Essential: Local languages (Hausa, Fulani, Suru)
  • Desirable: English (mission language)
  • Essential: Basic knowledge of Microsofot Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint
