MI has been registered in Türkiye since 2014 and has since built up its own office structure. MI now has two offices in southeastern Türkiye (Kilis and Gaziantep). The Malteser International team provides technical guidance and oversees management and administration of the partner-implemented projects in Türkiye and Northern Syria. MI is responsible for the procurement of the main medical supplies in Türkiye, the reporting and application as well as the quality assurance. In addition to the implementation of humanitarian and transitional aid projects, Malteser International´s strategic objective is the strengthening of the civil society structures in Türkiye and Syria. Malteser International focuses in Northwestern Syria and Türkiye on the sectors of health, livelihood, protection as well as social cohesion.
For its work in Northwestern Syria and Türkiye, Malteser International is looking for 4 Health Cluster Coordination Assistants to be based in NW Syria.
The Health Cluster Coordination Assistant in Northwest Syria (NWS) will be responsible for the Health Cluster Coordination in Aleppo and Idleb, ensuring proper information flow between the Gaziantep Health Cluster hub and NWS. This crucial role involves ensuring smooth communication and coordination with health partners, health directorates at NWS and the WHO Health Cluster Lead Organization, ultimately improving healthcare delivery in the region. This position is based in Aleppo and Idleb.
Your responsibilities:
- Convene and facilitate regular Health Cluster meetings in NWS, ensuring that discussions are participatory and results oriented. Ensure that the NGO members of the cluster are kept fully informed of the meetings and any decisions that may take place outside of regular Health Cluster meetings.
- Lead and/or co-lead, coordinate and conduct health needs assessments with the health partners and other sectors in particular, but not limited to, WASH Nutrition, Food Security and Protection.
- Contribute effectively to inter-cluster coordination forums and cooperate with other clusters, Government counterparts, and relevant authorities (as appropriate) in planning, coordination, and operational activities, ensuring that the NGO community is contributing to and sharing responsibilities.
- Ensure protection and early recovery are mainstreamed and awareness of the different needs and capacities of women, girls, boys and men of all ages, people with disabilities, and other diversity characteristics such as ethnicity and religion are informing what we do, how we do it and with whom to promote meaningful access, safety, and dignity in all phases of the health sector response.
- Participate actively in gap analysis, priority setting reinforcing the complementarity of partner actions by avoiding duplication and gaps.
- Participate in reviews of coordination mechanisms and their adaptation over time to reflect the evolving crisis and the capacities of local actors.
- Support advocacy, capacity building, monitoring, AAP, and MI projects as assigned.
Your profile:
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic is mandatory.
- At least 5 years of proven experience in health sector as a General Practitioner, Paediatrician, Internist, Nurse, Epidemiologist, or similar position.
- Proven ability to manage resources and deadlines with minimum supervision.
- Takes initiative in problem solving with good communication and interpersonal skills.
