Job Title: Head Teacher

Location: Ikorodu, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description / Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and overall management of the school’s academic and co-curricular programs.
  • Ensure effective teaching and learning in line with the Nigerian/British curriculum (or other curricula adopted by the school).
  • Lead, mentor, and appraise teaching and non-teaching staff to maintain high performance standards.
  • Develop and implement school policies, timetables, and academic calendars.
  • Monitor students’ progress and ensure high levels of discipline, moral standards, and academic achievement.
  • Engage with parents, guardians, and the community to promote the school’s vision and values.
  • Manage school resources efficiently and liaise with the school board/management on planning and development.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant education regulations, health and safety standards, and statutory requirements.
  • Represent the school in official engagements, inspections, and stakeholder meetings.

Educational Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
  • Professional teaching qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience, with at least 2 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Deputy Head, Sectional Head, or similar).
  • Proven track record of raising academic standards and leading successful school improvement initiatives.
  • Experience working in a Lagos private school environment with Nigerian and/or British curriculum exposure.

Required Skills:

  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Sound knowledge of curriculum delivery and assessment methods.
  • High level of organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to inspire and maintain staff motivation.
  • Competence in using school management software and Microsoft Office tools.
