Job Summary

  • The Head of Operations (HOO) Inbound will oversee the inbound logistics operations of Dangote Group, ensuring a seamless flow of materials and products from suppliers to production sites.
  • This role includes managing relationships with vendors, optimizing logistics processes, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage inbound logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize logistics processes and reduce costs while improving service levels.
  • Coordinate with procurement and production teams to ensure the timely delivery of materials in accordance with production schedules.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers and third-party logistics partners to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Oversee inventory control processes, ensuring accurate stock levels and minimizing discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies regarding logistics operations.
  • Develop and maintain logistics performance metrics to monitor efficiencies and identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct regular reviews of logistical operations and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Train and mentor team members to enhance performance and develop skills within the inbound logistics department.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on logistics performance and improvement initiatives.

Requirements
Educational and Work Experience:

  • B.Sc. in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or any related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or related areas.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a managerial position with a proven track record in inbound logistics management.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of logistics and supply chain principles and practices.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with vendors and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in logistics management software and tools.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation skills and business acumen.
