Job Title: Head of Operations

Location: Abuja

Reports to: Managing Partner

Contract:  Full-Time Job Summary

The Head of Operations is to oversee and enhance the operational aspects of the organisation. S/He will ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment with the organization’s strategic goals. This role involves strategic planning, operational management, team leadership, and continuous improvement of processes to achieve optimal performance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities Strategic Planning and Management

  • Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with our mission and goals.
  • Collaborate with the senior management team to formulate long-term plans.
  • Monitor industry trends and identify opportunities for operational improvements.

Operations Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.
  • Implement and manage operational policies and procedures to enhance governance and control.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and organizational standards.

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage the operational budget in collaboration with the finance department.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement cost control measures.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective risk management strategies.

Human Capital Management, People, and Culture

  • Develop and implement human capital strategies to attract, retain, and develop top talent.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and development processes.
  • Promote a positive organizational culture that aligns with our values and mission.
  • Implement performance management systems and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.
  • Address employee relations issues and provide guidance on HR matters.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback and coaching.

Qualifications:  o Master’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Economics, or Finance. 

  • Minimum of 8 years experience in operations management, with at least 3 years in finace or human capital management role, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Proven track record of strategic planning and operational leadership.

Requirements: 

  • Excellent skills in the use of all Microsoft office tools, especially Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans. o Strong team leadership and people management skills.
  • Expertise in HR strategy, talent development, and employee relations. o Expertise in financial planning and budget management. o Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. o Excellent verbal and written communication skills. o Ability to adapt to changing environments and handle unexpected challenges.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience managing interpersonal conflicts.
