Job Title: Head of Finance

Location: Lagos / Ibadan Express road, Lagos

Job Overview

  • The Head of Finance is accountable for the administrative, financial and risk management operations of the company.
  • This includes setting up the operational and financial strategy, projecting and reporting accurate financial results, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s long-term vision and objectives to optimize value for shareholders in the businesses.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with regulatory requirements and international accounting standards.
  • Advise on long-term business and financial planning whilst proactively managing all financial elements.
  • Prepare an annual bottom-up budget using realistic budget assumptions and produce quarterly forecast updates in the light of actual information to meet corporate timetable.
  • Analyse and explain deviations of actual results from budget and forecasts prior to submission of monthlies.
  • Develop/update operational policies, processes, and procedures for the department.
  • Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to support operational needs and strategic initiatives.
  • Optimize banking relationships and financing arrangements to minimize costs and maximize returns.
  • Monitor foreign exchange exposure and implement hedging strategies as necessary.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis and recommendations to support decision-making at all levels of the organization.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to assess business performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that all transactions are real, correctly calculated, appropriately approved, and completely and accurately booked on a timely basis to meet the standard financial control policy.
  • Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Establish and develop relations with senior management and external partners and stakeholders.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Managing Director and Board of Directors.

Requirements
Required Educational Qualifications

  • Holder of a Bachelor or Master Degree from a recognized University majoring preferably in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
  • A relevant professional qualification i.e ACCA, ICAN, CPA, CA.
  • Possession of a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and other professional banking qualifications will be an added advantage
  • Have proven working experience in the preparation of accounts, budgets and financial analysis

Required level of experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance leadership roles in medium-to-large Accounting/Finance Department preferably in the FMCG or manufacturing related industry.
  • Knowledge and experience of accounting and control processes
  • Knowledge of relevant internal control requirements and procedures
  • Knowledge and experience with business processes
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial regulations and reporting requirements
  • Strong understanding of financial statements: Balance sheet, Profit and Loss, Cash Flow
  • A good understanding of local taxation regime
  • Ability to develop and establish financial control policies and procedures.
  • Ability to analyse financial data and to prepare accurate reports in a timely fashion
  • Knowledge of policies and practices associated with payroll and benefits administration.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed records
  • Demonstrated proficiency in ERP and accounting systems i.e. SAP, Dynamics 365 etc. and other computer/software packages e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint etc.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and high integrity.
  • Ability to interact effectively with the rest of the Management as well as shareholders.

Salary
N2,500,000 / Month.
