Job Title: Head, Mechanical

Job Summary

  • The Head of Mechanical is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing all mechanical operations within Dangote Group. 
  • The role entails strategic planning, project management, and maintenance of mechanical systems, ensuring optimal performance standards and compliance with safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the mechanical engineering department, ensuring effective and efficient operations.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies that maximize equipment uptime and performance.
  • Supervise major mechanical projects, including installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align mechanical activities with business objectives.
  • Establish and enforce safety standards in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and analyze mechanical performance metrics and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage budgeting and resource allocation to ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Prepare and present reports on mechanical performance to executive management.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to resolve complex mechanical issues.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and promote best practices throughout the organization.

Requirements, Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems and engineering best practices.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent project management capabilities and problem-solving skills.
  • In-depth understanding of safety regulations and quality assurance processes.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams.
  • Proficient in engineering software and tools relevant to mechanical design and analysis.
