Roles & Responsibilities
- Our client seeks qualified and competent individuals for key leadership roles.
- This role will provide strategic leadership to the Legal Services Department as well as support business decision-making and risk management.Â
- The ideal candidate will ensure the delivery of high-quality, commercially focused legal counsel aligned with the Bank’s objectives, regulatory expectations, and governance standards.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic legal leadership and advisory support across all business units, ensuring informed decision-making and proactive risk mitigation.
- Oversee the identification, assessment, and management of legal risks related to the Bank’s operations, products, services, and transactions.
- Lead and manage the Bank’s litigation portfolio and interface with external legal counsel to ensure effective and cost-efficient legal representation.
- Drive the development and implementation of legal frameworks, policies, and systems that support business objectives and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate legal support for high-value transactions, corporate expansion initiatives, and complex negotiations, including multi-jurisdictional matters.
Requirements
- A First Degree in Law and Professional Certificate of Barrister at Law.
- Minimum of 15 years’ post-call experience in legal practice, with at least 10 years’ in a managerial position
- Knowledge and experience working within the banking and financial services sectors, including commercial banks and financial institutions.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage and influence key internal and external stakeholders.
- High level of credibility, ethical standards, and integrity
