Job Title: Grounds Maintenance Worker
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
The Grounds Maintenance Worker is required to:
- Cut grass, trim hedges, and maintain landscaped areas around the facility using appropriate machinery.
- Keep driveways, walkways, and access roads clear of debris, litter, and obstructions.
- Perform general outdoor housekeeping duties, including sweeping, raking, and trash removal.
- Ensure proper disposal of green waste and other non-hazardous materials.
- Inspect outdoor areas regularly to identify and report hazards or maintenance needs to supervisor.
- Support the HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) team in keeping the external areas compliant with safety and environmental standards.
- Maintain and store tools and landscaping equipment in good working order.
- Follow all company safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist in preparing outdoor areas for inspections, drills, or emergency readiness as needed.
- Report hazards or maintenance issues to supervisors.
- Clean and maintain good housekeeping at the workshop.
- Maintain outdoor Safety Markings, furniture, signage, and decorative elements.
- Inspect fences, gates, and outdoor structures.
Requirements
- Minimum of Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or equivalent.
- 1–2 years experience in gardening or grounds maintenance.
- Familiar with lawn care.
- Ability to operate gardening tools and machinery (e.g., lawnmowers, hedge trimmers).
- Physically fit and able to work in varying weather conditions.
- Attention to detail and a good sense of aesthetics.
- Basic understanding of safety practices when using chemicals or equipment.
- Trustworthy, punctual, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Good interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
Salary
N70,000 – N100,000 per month.
