WaterAid started its operation in Nigeria in 1995. Since then it has successfully executed several intervention programmes as outlined by its objectives and has made impact in the lives of the very poor. WaterAid with the country office in Abuja currently works in Bauchi, Enugu and Plateau States with funding from various donors and partners.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Global Campaigns Officer – Climate
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full time
Contract: Permanent, 35 hours per week
About the Role
- As the Global Campaigns Officer for Climate, you will be responsible for some specific high-profile projects for the climate campaign, with the support of the Senior Campaigner.Â
- This might include a key role in coordinating our campaigning presence at a specific international summit or moment (e.g. COP, UN General Assembly or G20 meetings); project managing key campaigning products like stunts and events; and helping to monitor and evaluate our work.  Â
- You’ll keep the ‘engine’ of the global campaigns team by ensuring key working group and decision-making meetings are scheduled and internal communications compiled.
- You’ll will work with policy, advocacy and communication colleagues across the organisation, including country, regional and global teams, as well as with external stakeholders.Â
- You’ll be a self-starter, a great team player, a confident cross-cultural communicator and have strong project management skills.Â
Requirements
To be successful, you’ll need:
- Past background in campaigning, with an ability to evidence skills in public mobilisation (such as utilising communications, events, stunts, social media & other tactics to get the public behind your campaign).Â
- Strong personal commitment to improving access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) across the world, and tackling the impacts of climate change or health.Â
- Strong commitment to working in partnership with others in a collaborative and equitable way.Â
- Experience working within the public campaigning or development sector.Â
- Experience of working on complex multi-stakeholder projects related to public campaigning/ advocacy/influencing.Â
- Experience of knowledge management within a large, global organisation or experience of project management across multiple areas of work in a global context.Â
- Strong communication skills, particularly with the design of assets (i.e. presentations, online meetings, documents etc) and presenting to others.Â
- A keen political ‘savviness’ and proven application in order to achieve political change. Â
- Understanding of cultural differences and ability to work across countries and cultures to deliver successful projects. Â
- Excellent digital communication skills including social media and working virtually, as well as Microsoft Office (including Teams, Word, Excel and Powerpoint). Â
- Ability and willingness to undertake more routine tasks with equal enthusiasm as for special projectsÂ
- Ability to travel overseas (with advance notice and reasonable accommodations for caring responsibilities or disability). Â
- Commitment to WaterAid’s values and a working style that reflects these.Â
Desirable Skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to successfully manage complex and sensitive relationships to achieve collectively agreed goals.Â
- Experience working with colleagues in different country contexts.Â
- Previous experience with digital platforms or CRM packagesÂ
- Previous experience working with or leading groups of grassroots or community campaignersÂ
- Experience producing communications products for public audiencesÂ
- Proficiency in another language, preferably French or Portuguese.Â
- Experience of working in Africa, Asia and/or Pacific country contexts (or with teams based in those regions)Â
