Purpose

PAC is an active NGO established in 2012, registered in Turkey, active in NWS, with other small operations offices in both Yemen and Sudan.

In NWS; PAC is a leading organization in both the health and Nutrition sectors through several central programs that work to improve the resilience of crisis-affected communities in NWS.

PAC’s programs always aimed to build and support the active health and nutrition systems in the target areas through maintaining a high level of integration across several sectors and leads central services to facilitate the provision of the service that other actors are running in NWS.

Position: Gender and Protection Officer

Workplace: Gaziantep/Turkey

Department: Programs

Report to: Programs Manager

Job Purpose:

To provide guidance and support to the program teams in ensuring that gender equality is embedded across the project life span.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and participate in gender and power analysis in the project location in through collaboration with the community; mobilization of men, women, boys and girls to participate in the FGDs.
  • Lead, support and monitor the implementation of the gender action plan in the community and by the project teams.
  • Lead and support implementation of gender and GBV related activities in the proposal and project log frame
  • Undertake an ongoing analysis gender-based barriers for PLW/G to access and participate in project activities and recommend necessary actions and adjustments to project activities.
  • Lead the conducting of GBV safety audit in the project location through consultation with women, girls, boys and men in project location and develop community-based action plan to address any identified risks.
  • Prepare policy papers, briefing notes, thematic reviews, and speeches, as needed.
  • Ensure that gender equality is mainstreamed throughout the project implementation, including but not limited to undertaking necessary interventions and providing relevant inputs for highlighting gender-related issues.
  • Support the design of results-based strategic action plans, to monitor and evaluate progress toward their its own strategic objectives and produce reports, information, and advocacy products.
  • Support the identification and address of internal capacity needs, including organization or direct implementation of learning/training opportunities.
  • Support to embed gender principles in planning and implementation of their respective action plans; and to and include gender indicators in designing, monitoring and evaluating of action plans.
  • Support the Advisors to design gender-inclusive plans, gather and analyze gender indicators; and ensuring gender inclusivity throughout project activities, materials, and events.
  • Lead and contribute to specific, gender-related events, including key calendar events such International Women’s Day, International Day of the Girl, 16 Days of Activism against GBV among others.
  • Propose and provide inputs related to gender equality (visuals and written content, digital media campaigns and social media-related inputs) and participate in the development and implementation of gender equality activities.
  • Identify best practices, lessons learned and beneficiary feedback that could be used to prepare key messages and advocate for the advancement of gender equality.
  • Facilitate and initiate capacity building of staff and communities on gender equality, GBV and women’s empowerment through training, workshops, and other activities, where relevant.

Note: the above-mentioned key responsibilities are illustrative ones. Other future responsibilities/accountabilities may be assigned to the job depending on the department organizational chart.

Position holders will be based in Gaziantep, therefore, legal right to work in Türkiye is necessary at the time of application.

Qualification (Education/Work Experience)

Essential:

  • University degree in Sociology, Social Sciences, or related fields.
  • Four years of experience in a related position
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing Gender plans frameworks in a similar role.
  • Experience in conducting training and capacity-building activities.
  • Familiarity with humanitarian and development contexts, particularly in the NWS region.
  • Very good in English and Arabic (both written and spoken).

Desirable:

  • More than four years of professional experience in related positions.
  • Advanced level of both English, Arabic, and Turkish.
