Job Title: Furniture / Interior Woodwork Designer
Location: Abuja (FCT)

Reports To: Production Manager / Creative Director
Job Summary
- We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented Designer with experience in furniture and interior woodwork design.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and preparing accurate technical drawings for custom wood furniture and fittings in line with client requirements and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop creative and functional designs for custom furniture and woodwork products such as kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, doors, and paneling.
- Translate client requirements into detailed 2D and 3D design concepts, layouts, and renderings.
- Prepare accurate technical drawings and specifications for production using CAD tools.
- Collaborate with sales, production, and installation teams to ensure feasibility and clarity of designs.
- Conduct site visits and take precise measurements when necessary.
- Recommend suitable materials, finishes, and fittings for each project.
- Present design concepts to clients and make adjustments based on feedback.
- Maintain a database of design templates and product catalogs for efficiency.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, materials, and technologies in furniture and interior design.
- Ensure all designs meet safety, ergonomic, and functional standards.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential:
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Industrial Design, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
- 2 – 4 years proven experience in furniture or interior design, particularly custom woodwork.
- Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3ds Max, Revit, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of materials (especially wood), joinery, and furniture production techniques.
- Excellent eye for detail, space planning, and functional design.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Prior experience in client-facing roles is an advantage.
Desirable:
- Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Knowledge of Nigerian building codes and local material suppliers.
- Previous work in a franchise or retail environment.
- Basic understanding of cost estimation and budgeting for design projects.
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to generate innovative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing design solutions.
- Precision in creating and reviewing detailed AutoCAD drawings and plans.
- Empathy and active listening to translate client needs into exceptional designs.
- Works effectively across production, installation, and sales teams to ensure seamless delivery.
- Multiple design projects and meets tight deadlines without compromising quality.
- Adapts designs to tackle site constraints, material availability, or budget changes.
Work Environment:
- Hybrid role with time split between office/design studio and client sites.
- Requires site visits for measurements and client consultations, travel across urban areas.
- In-office work involves extended computer use and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Occasional participation in trade shows or client events to showcase design capabilities.
