Purpose Of The Position:

Team Leader who has the The purpose of the position of the Field Monitor-Nutrition is to play a role in the implementation of blanket supplementary feeding programme (BSFP) in Borno

All responsibilities and reporting have to be carried out in accordance with the strategic objective of Nutrition Officer and any deviation to the above has to be reported to the Team Leader as the line manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

General responsibilities:

  • The position holder is responsible for nutrition activities in Borno.
  • He /she will be responsible for implementation of the blanket supplementary feeding He programme (BSFP).
  • He/she will also take a direct role in food distribution activities.

Specific duties:

  • Participate in demarcation of dropping zone and protection of both commodity and beneficiaries during distribution in accordance with laid down procedures.
  • Makes sure that the right entitlement for each child is communicated to the respective parent before distribution commences.
  • Participates and conducts MUAC screening for children aged 6-59 months during registration and
  • food distribution activities appropriately and provides referrals in cases of malnourished children and where necessary.
  • Records children appropriately in terms of their nutrition status and ensures that children are given appropriate assistance depending on the screening results (preventative, MAM

and SAM treatment

Referrals.

  • Ensures adequate nutrition response during general food distribution by participating and leading in blanket supplementary feeding programme (BSFP) for children 6-59 months.
  • Assists in the conduct of regular meetings of local government authorities, local leaders and
  • implementing partners on nutrition related activities and distribution arrangements.
  • Compiles information and submits monthly nutrition reports to the Team Leader.
  • Collects qualitative information and stories from the field to be used for communication purpose particularly on nutrition.
  • Supports in the elaboration of communication materials by taking pictures and making short videos.
  • Identifies any apparent issues in the program and reports them to the appropriate personnel.
  • Supervises and trains other personnel appropriately.
  • Adheres to the code of conduct during the implementation of his/her duties.
  • Ensures humanitarian principles of neutrality and do no harm are observed and adhered to
  • Performs any other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor/line manager.

Qualifications/Experience Requirements

  • Diploma in Nutrition/Health.
  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant working experience.
  • Experience in nutrition and nutrition related activities.
  • Experience in emergency programmes.
  • Experience working in a volatile context.
  • Experience working with NGOs in similar position.
