Job Title: Fiber Technician

Job Responsibilities
- Lead a team responsible for fiber optic network design, installation, and maintenance.
- Develop project plans and schedules for fiber optic network installations, ensuring timely completion within budgetary constraints.
- Ability to oversee material and equipment procurement for fiber optic projects.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine optimal routes and placement for fiber optic cables.
- Ensure project execution adheres to quality standards through coordination with internal stakeholders and external contractors.
- Provide technical guidance and support, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions as needed for the team.
- Ensuring compliance with industry and state government regulations and safety standards in all fiber optic network activities.
- The ability to keep precise documentation of project advancement, which includes drawings, reports, and inventory records, is crucial.
- It is necessary to stay up-to-date with advancements in fiber optics technology and recommend enhancements to improve network performance and efficiency.
- Foster collaboration and a positive work environment for professional development.
Job Requirements
- A Second Class Upper Division (2:1) Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required.
- With at least 2 years of experience in a supervisory role, the candidate should have proven knowledge of fiber optic network design, installation, and maintenance.
- In-depth knowledge of different fiber optic cable types, connectors, splicing techniques, and testing procedures.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor team members effectively.
- Excellent project management skills are essential, including efficient task prioritization and resource allocation.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools for network planning and design (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS).
- Familiarity with industry standards, expertise in resolving community issues, and knowledge of regulations governing fiber optic network deployment.
