International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO) – Founded in 2011, the International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO) is a British charity that supports the safety of aid workers by establishing safety coordination platforms in insecure contexts. INSO provides registered NGOs with a range of free services including real-time incident tracking, analytical reports, safety related data and mapping, crisis management support, staff orientations and training.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Driver
Location: Abuja, Nigeria
Overall Purpose of Role
- The driver is responsible for the movements of the personnel, the partners, the transport, and the delivery of the equipment / materials of the mission and the mail between different sites. The position holder is responsible for the use and maintenance of INSO vehicles with the laws and regulations that govern their use.Â
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the daily care and maintenance of vehicles, including cleaning, periodic maintenance checks, any repairs, etc.Â
- In case of replacement of a defective part, ensure that the used part is brought back to the store and registered in the used parts register and return the balance and supporting documents to the cashier upon return to the office.
- Responsible for safety in, and around, the vehicle for all the passengers, i.e., adhere to vehicle’s maximum capacity, refusing the transport of any armed persons, and secure cargo transfers.
- Responsible for knowing and obliging to the country’s Highway Code.
- Responsible for driving only INSO employees and cargo.
- Obtain relevant authorizations, which will be kept in the vehicle, from INSO manager to provide transportation for any other passengers.Â
- Provide increased assistance to passengers arriving from outside and assist in loading and unloading luggage and/or cargo.
- Carry out pre and post field trip checks and inspections as required.Â
- Keep the vehicle clean inside and outside both when leaving and returning from the field a special care with fragile equipment: computer equipment, radio, documentsÂ
- Ensure that all parts relating to the circulation and driving of the vehicle are on board and are valid; and also ensuring that the logbook and the accident report forms are present.
- Responsible for the transmission of information in an event of the accident or incident.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
- A College degree, State Diploma, or SSCE.
- Excellent English language and native language skills, both written and verbal
- Valid driver’s license for relevant vehicles
- Minimum 3 year’s driver experience
- Able to work autonomously and organize own schedule to accomplish the expected tasks.
- Auto mechanics knowledge

- This is a full-time position based in Abuja, Nigeria, with possible travels within the country. You will report to the Logistic Officer with Technical reference to the Operations Manager.
