In order to support the implementation of its country strategy 2021-2025 and to contribute to the development and strengthening of its program in Mali, Caritas Switzerland is looking for’une/a Director/-ter Country
Your tasks
- Lead and develop the’organisation pays de Caritas Suisse in Mali
- Operationalize the country strategy (2021-2025) and contribute to the development of the new 2026+ strategy
- To represent and network Caritas Switzerland in Mali, with the donors and the partners
- Ensure the rigorous application and take responsibility for the organizational, institutional and security guidelines of the country organization, in collaboration with headquarters and security advisor
- Manage teams and conduct organizational and day-to-day processes with staff (recruit, foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, staff development, listen, conduct annual interviews)
- Ensure the proper functioning of cross-cutting processes, such as complaint handling mechanism; capacity building of partners, organisation of evaluation and audits, etc.
- Participate in the development of projects and ensure quality control throughout the project cycle, in collaboration with the program manager
- Participate in the search for funds as well as in the development of project proposals ( narrative and financial ); and ensure active and strategic monitoring of funding opportunities in Mali, in line with the country strategy and in collaboration with acquisition staff
- Ensure rigorous contextual and security monitoring, and take the appropriate decisions in all circumstances for the proper functioning of the mission and the safety of personnel; in collaboration with the safety adviser
- Plan and organize visits to the country for ( e ) s representatives from Caritas Switzerland, donors, ( e ) media representatives, or any other person
- Influence a healthy, collaborative, learning and caring work environment
Our requirements
- Master/higher degree in social sciences, international relations, sustainable development or other relevant field for humanitarian work, development and international cooperation
- Professional experience in a position with a similar level of responsibility (director/country director) of at least 2 years
- Professional experience in program management and implementation of large and complex projects in fragile contexts of at least 6 years
- Proven professional experience in team management of at least 4 years
- Experiences and expertise in the following themes are an asset: migration, protection, humanitarian assistance, employment and income, food security and systemic approaches to developing markets
- Experience in the implementation of major donor projects such as the EU, Swiss Cooperation and others, including knowledge of the conditions, administrative and financial processes and procedures for projects financed by them (compliance)
- Proven experience in financial management (of the country organization as projects), monitoring-evaluation, quality control
- Ability to’organization, coordination,’analysis and synthesis ; ability to maintain the deadlines set
- Availability and interest in managing a wide variety of tasks during the same day (representation, field visits, etc.).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills ( including remotely ), and ability to adapt style and content in relation to the target audience, in French and English
- Attitude focused on finding common solutions and achieving team results, including in difficult and complex situations.
- Integrative and ethical personality, who defends the interest of the organization in all circumstances and acts accordingly on a daily basis
