Organizational Overview
Physicians for Human Rights was founded in 1986 by five physicians who were united in the belief that health professionals, with their specialized skills, ethical duties, and credible voices, are uniquely positioned to prevent harm and promote respect for human rights. Since its founding, PHR has built a long and distinguished record of accomplishment by conducting groundbreaking investigations and advocacy, in concert with strategic partners.
PHR’s approach includes extensive documentation of the use of illegal and inhumane weapons in armed conflicts, attacks on civilians, and the physical and psychological impacts of torture and sexual violence as a weapon of war. Other core activities include protecting the rights of those seeking asylum in the United States, the human rights implications of the COVID-19 pandemic, and halting attacks on medical facilities and frontline health professionals.
Role Description
The ideal candidate has experience working on paid and organic digital campaigns, non-profit communications, and can pull insights from digital analytics. They will work as an integral part of PHR’s development team and be able to utilize Salesforce for reporting.
This candidate will attend departmental and staff meetings on a weekly basis while working closely with the Digital Communications Manager to develop strategy and manage execution.
Responsibilities
Paid Social Media
- Support management of cross-channel strategy, facilitate approvals of paid ads, inform Further of upcoming content that can be used including upcoming publications, perform analysis of paid data in order to make decisions.
- Review monthly budget and actuals – make sure we’re not going over.
Organic Social Media
- Create weekly social content for Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram and build homepage lightbox content as needed.
- Calendar planning for upcoming months and adjusting calendar based on organizational updates and priorities.
- Develop evergreen organic and paid social content.
Team collaboration
- Weekly meetings with Digital Communications Manager, Communications and /Advocacy teams, Development teams, and PHR’s external paid media partner.
- Keep an eye on annual goals and maintain planned projects.
- Support internal presentations about digital marketing.
- Second pair of eyes on email content before it goes through programmatic and executive approvals.
- Test final version for copy edits and to make sure links are working.
- Sounding board for email content and calendar planning.
Requirements
- 5-7 years of experience working in digital communications/marketing
- Superior organizational skills and ability to facilitate a project from start to finish
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and professionally
- Mature judgment, confidentiality, and capacity to work independently
Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate
- Interest in digital communications work in a nonprofit setting
- Familiarity with graphic design/video tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
Compensation and Hours
Interested consultants should include their rates and total number of hours for the project. Hours can be flexible to accommodate different types of schedules, with 30-40 hours required weekly.
