Job Title: Decanter Operator

Job Summary
- We are seeking a skilled Decanter Operator to run and maintain decanter centrifuge systems for efficient solid-liquid separation in the production or effluent treatment process.Â
- The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with decanter equipment, strong attention to operational detail, and a focus on plant hygiene, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor decanter centrifuge units to ensure continuous and efficient separation of sludge or biomass.
- Check parameters like feed rate, differential speed, torque, vibration, and flow to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct pre-startup checks and routine inspections of equipment.
- Perform cleaning-in-place (CIP), backflushing, and minor maintenance tasks.
- Record operational data (flow rates, solids content, downtimes, etc.) in shift logbooks.
- Identify operational abnormalities and coordinate with the maintenance team for troubleshooting.
- Ensure proper feeding of slurry or biomass to the decanter unit as per process requirements.
- Adhere to safety and environmental compliance protocols while operating the equipment.
- Monitor sludge cake dryness and centrate quality to maintain process KPIs.
- Assist during plant shutdowns, startups, and equipment overhauls.
Qualifications
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Chemical, or related engineering field.
- 1 – 3 years of experience operating decanter centrifuges in a process plant (distillery / ETP / food / oil & gas industries).
- Basic knowledge of mechanical components (bearings, pumps, seals, etc.) and process flow.
- Familiarity with centrifuge brands like Alfa Laval, Flottweg, GEA, Sharples, etc., is an advantage.

Salary
N300,000 – N400,000 Monthly.
