We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Compliance Associate

Location: Nigeria
Department: Legal & Compliance

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Compliance & Internal Audits: Execute comprehensive internal audits of company processes, Client statements of work, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements. (Note: Financial audits are out of scope for this role.)
  • Regulatory Audit Management: Prepare for and manage other regulatory-type audits as needed, including but not limited to environmental regulations such as Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reporting.
  • Strategic Project Leadership: Function as a dedicated project leader, taking full ownership of compliance-related projects. This includes defining objectives, managing scope, delivering key results in line with strategic goals, and embedding a culture of accountability across diverse teams.
  • Execution & Delivery Management: Maintain a strong focus on execution pace and output, ensuring that project estimates are realistic and that initiatives remain on track for timely and successful delivery.
  • Framework Development: Implement thorough, best-in-class compliance frameworks that are relevant to our business operations and can be sustainably institutionalized, scaled up, and replicated across various departments.
  • Stakeholder Alignment & Empowerment: Create a “shared brain” across large, cross-functional teams, aligning stakeholders to the vision of each project and empowering independent, informed decision-making regarding compliance.
  • Process Optimization: Design, build, and continuously optimize processes to drive significant performance improvement and enhance user experience across all compliance initiatives.
  • Data-Driven Problem Solving: Employ a data-driven approach to navigate through ambiguity, solve complex business-critical problems, and identify opportunities for compliance enhancements.
  • Data Architecture for Compliance: Develop and maintain a sustainable data architecture and adjacent processes to bolster our overall compliance ecosystem, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
  • Impactful Reporting: Prepare highly impactful periodic reports that provide relevant insights and strategic options to drive informed decision-making at all levels.

Must-Have Qualifications/Experience

  • Minimum of 4+ years of progressive experience in compliance, audit, or risk management roles.
  • Proactive Compliance Approach: A forward-thinking and proactive view towards compliance, anticipating challenges and implementing preventative measures.
  • Quantitative Acumen & Data Analytics: Very strong quantitative acumen and extensive experience with data analytics to inform decision-making and identify trends.
  • Strong Project Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects, manage timelines, and deliver results.
  • People Leader: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates, fostering knowledge transfer and skill growth within the team.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas and influence stakeholders across diverse functions.
  • Drive to Action: Demonstrated ability to translate fuzzy problems into structured outputs, using data and qualitative inputs to drive decisions
  • Working Style: Strong ownership mindset, proactive and self-directed; operates well in environments that require initiative and continuous iteration.
  • Legal Officer or Paralegal Experience is ideal
  • Management consulting / professional services experience is an advantage.
  • Proven record of high performance and substantial achievements in your past positions
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in a team environment
  • Initiative taker, eager to break new grounds, create opportunities for others
  • Willingness to take personal risks – as seen through leadership roles – in work environment and extracurricular activities
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present to various audiences and distill key messages in order to effectively inform and persuade.
  • Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively
