Multi Aid and Charity Initiative (MACI) is a registered non-governmental and nonprofit organization majorly concerned with improving the health and well-being condition of women and children, advocacy, and Peacebuilding through policies and programs designed, aimed at salvaging the devastating situation caused by the conflict over a decade. MACI’s humanitarian interest includes; Gender-based Violence, Girl Child Education, Women and Youth, Empowerment, Sexual and Reproductive Health Education, Community Health Education, Food Security, Nutrition and Livelihood, Camp Coordination, and Camp Management. MACI has reached over 10,000 vulnerable women and children with life support and life-changing services in Northeast Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Community Mobilization Assistant

Locations: Adamawa, Borno and Yobe
 

Goal / Purpose

  • The Community Mobilization Assistant will play a key role in facilitating community-based protection activities, focusing on raising awareness about the National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment process.
  • Community Mobilization Assistant Directly Report to the Team Lead with Indirect Report to the Program Manager.
  • This role involves extensive community engagement, coordination with local authorities, and information dissemination to ensure the community is well-informed and actively participating in the enrolment process.

Job Description
Community Engagement and Mobilization:

  • Establish and maintain connections with communities to mobilize members for engagement in community-based protection activities.
  • Organize and participate in community engagements to determine the most suitable period and schedule for the onset of NIN enrolment.
  • Mobilize community leaders to provide attestation on behalf of beneficiaries where required.

Awareness and Information Dissemination:

  • Co-create key messages with the World Food Programme (WFP) and the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) for dissemination to beneficiaries.
  • Raise awareness among beneficiaries about the basic requirements for acquiring NIN and the supporting documents needed.
  • Educate the community on the benefits of having the NIN.
  • Keep the community informed and updated about the projects, and disseminate information accordingly.

Coordination and Relationship Building:

  • Assist the Communication with Community Team Leader in coordinating with local authorities, both formal and informal, as well as refugee/IDP community focal points in each area.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with local partners, service providers, and local authorities.

Event Organization and Participation:

  • Participate in and assist with the organization of project events, including practical trainings, workshops, community consultations, and mobilization activities.
  • Support the design and planning of capacity-building trainings for local partners, service providers, and local authorities.

Supervision and Monitoring:

  • Supervise and monitor the enrolment process, supporting with the collation of any emerging issues for resolution by NIMC.
  • Supervise and monitor volunteer groups (Women and Youth committees) in refugee and IDP camps.
  • Engage in project monitoring activities as relevant and report on the progress.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Draft status reports, including narrative analyses of trends, summaries of activities, identified challenges, and needs, with photos when possible.
  • Assist and provide guidance on the submission of community initiatives/proposals.
  • Uphold the organization’s code of conduct, ensuring that all persons of concern are treated with dignity and respect.

Additional Duties:

  • Respond and adjust to flexible activity scheduling and logistical constraints related to public space management.
  • Conduct other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Profile

  • Education: ND/HND/BSC/BA/B.TEC/LLB/ or any equivalent Qualification from a recognized Institution
  • Experience: Two (2) years Progressively responsible experience in the Humanitarian sector
  • Languages: English and Hausa languages. Knowledge of the local dialect is desirable
