ABOUT THE JOB: Under the supervision of the project coordinator, the Clinical Officer will be responsible for providing support for health care activities, monitoring activities, report making, will also engage in identifying and documentation of appropriate success stories, experiences, best practices and lessons learned as well as maintain a close collaboration with health facility staff and managers. The job holder will undertake routine clinical and community awareness- raising activities. She will equally maintain a good record keeping system. S/he will also provide technical assistance to community based clinical and engagement activities to optimize quality and maximize the project’s reach to particularly vulnerable women and girls in the implementing communities. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: The  Clinical Officer will be responsible for the following, including those not listed but are extensions of those expressly stated:

  • Provide technical and program support to ensure quality provision of sexual and Reproductive Health Rights Services in Primary health Facilities and mobile clinics
  • Participate in the provision of clinical care for sexual assault survivors
  • Support in the development of a coasted project work plan, budget and develop a weekly work plan and movement plan for activities in the facilities and communities
  • Capacity building for service providers through training and retraining and continuously identifying other training need for quality program implementation.
  • Provide basic psychological first aid and support adolescents to access the social services needed.
  • Obtains patient histories, and insurance approvals as appropriate; prepares and updates medical charts and associated records and enters patient data into files and automated databases.
  • Receives, screens, interviews, and registers patients or clinical research subjects; takes and records vital signs, as appropriate to clinic operations; may assist with routine medical procedures, as appropriate to training and/or certificate.
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment to promote patient health.
  • Disseminate best practices at the community level to community elders, Traditional Birth Attendants, and women groups.
  • Manage Reproductive Health activities both at the community and Health Facilities.
  • Build technical capacity of the service providers, Traditional Birth Assistants, and communities
  • Provide regular feedback to the program manager on the facility and mobile clinic activities.
  • Develop a good working relationships with service, community and CSOs, IGNOs etc.
  • Develop a good communication and interpersonal relationship with other project staff and EYN project staff so as to manage and resolve problems amicably following appropriate communication channels and procedures.
  • Experience in CMR and other aspects of clinical care for sexual assault survivors.
  • Represent EYN Projects at Coordination meetings in the Location.
  • And any other duties that may be assign to him by the line manager

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Register doctor, Nurse, Nurse/Midwife, CHEW with practical experience in SRHR Services
  • Proven experience in community-based programming with the ability to motivate and lead community volunteers.
  • Ability to work with displaced communities with diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Experience in working in a team.
  • Ability to plan training sessions, provide supervision, monitoring and evaluation of medical activities.
  • Good communication and report-writing skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize activities
  • Fluent in Hausa and other local languages
  • Proficiency in computer skills, especially in MS Word and Excel

Qualification:

  • B.sc/HND Nursing, Public Health, or any related field from a certified tertiary institution.
  • At least 3 years field experience in health related /developmental work
  • Must possess the practicing license or qualifying certificate
