Job Title: Chief People Officer

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Reporting To: Managing Director

Position Summary

  • The Chief People Officer (CPO) is the executive leader responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies that foster business growth, employee engagement, talent development, and organizational excellence.
  • The CPO ensures HR policies and systems are aligned with legal standards and business objectives while driving high-performance culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end HR operations including recruitment, onboarding, talent management, compensation, learning & development, and employee relations.
  • Align HR policies and programs with overall company strategy.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with all labor and employment laws.
  • Drive organizational development, culture transformation, and change management initiatives.
  • Develop performance management systems that drive accountability and business performance.
  • Build workforce planning, succession planning, and leadership development frameworks.
  • Advise executive management on organizational structure, resource allocation, and workforce optimization.
  • Oversee HR information systems (HRIS) for effective HR administration.
  • Monitor HR analytics and metrics to guide strategic decisions.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • B.Sc. / HND in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or related field.
  • MBA or advanced business degree highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ senior-level HR leadership experience in construction, oil, energy, or power industries.
  • Membership in recognized professional HR bodies.
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian labor laws, HRIS platforms, and global HR practices.
  • Proven experience in leading HR teams and managing complex organizations.
