Job Title: Chief of Surgery

Job Profile
- The Chief of Surgery plays a critical leadership role in overseeing surgical services within the hospital environment.Â
- This position combines clinical excellence with strategic oversight to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.
- The Chief of surgery will lead multidisciplinary teams, foster collaboration across departments, and drive continuous improvement in surgical outcomes and operational efficiency.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Perform clinical duties as outlined in the approved clinical privilege form.
- Lead the coordination, planning and strategic development of the hospital’s surgery department.
- Ensure that all surgical practice align with current clinical guidelines and uphold the highest standards of patient care.
- Oversee and support the recruitment, onboarding and continuous professional development of surgeons across various specialties.Â
- Collaborate with department members and other clinical units to achieve and exceed set performance and quality targets.
- Supervise the efficient use of operating theatres, ensuring optimal scheduling, safety, and resource utilization.
- Provide supervisory and managerial oversight, including duty planning and surgeons’ performance management.Â
- Promote interdepartmental collaboration with other specialties to support integrated, multidisciplinary care. leadership guidance in the department and establish good working relationship with other department.
- Act as a liaison between the surgery department and hospital leadership, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant standard operating procedures and clinical protocols.
- Lead and support quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs within the department.

Educational Qualification
- MBBS
- Residency training in surgery from a recognized institution.
- Valid medical practicing license.
Professional Qualification & Experience:
- Fellowship of the National postgraduate medical college in general surgery or its equivalent.
- 7-10 years post-residency experience.
