Summary
- The Center for Clinical Care and Clinical Research (CCCRN) is pleased to announce the launch of the PEPFAR Nurse Leadership Initiative, a program designed to enhance the capacity of nurses to lead and contribute to the health sector’s response to HIV, TB, and other public health challenges. This initiative is funded by the United States Government through PEPFAR.
Program Overview
- CCCRN is implementing this competency-based training program. The initiative spans 12 weeks, featuring a 3-week in-person training in Abuja, followed by a 10-week practicum at the participant’s workplace.
- The in-person training leverages adult learning methodologies, including didactic sessions, group discussions, assignments, and role plays. The practicum will combine weekly virtual training sessions with the execution of a supervised project, which participants will present at a national platform upon completion.
Training Focus Areas:
- Successful applicants will begin with a one-week generalist training covering the five broad domains listed below. Participants will then select one focus area from Domains 1–3 for specialized training and practicum over the remaining 12 weeks. Selection will be based on the participant’s preference and the availability of slots in the chosen domain
- Health Leadership and Management
- Research and Innovation
- Advocacy and Communication
- Infection Prevention and Control
- Mental Health and Well-being
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the PEPFAR Nurse Leadership Initiative, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Professional Qualifications: Registered Nurse or Midwife practicing in Nigeria with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Current Engagement: Must be currently employed in a PEPFAR ART facility.
- Employer Support: Commitment from the employer to release the participant for the 2-week in-person training and 1-week dissemination activity.
- Practicum Support: Employer’s agreement to facilitate the practicum at the participant’s current workplace
