Job Summary

  • The Business Editor is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and execution of all business-related news, analysis, and content for a leading media conglomerate.
  • This role requires an experienced media professional with a deep understanding of the business landscape, a strong track record of delivering impactful and insightful business journalism, and the ability to lead a talented team of reporters and producers.
  • The successful candidate will play a crucial role in shaping the organization’s business content strategy, driving audience engagement, and enhancing the media conglomerate’s reputation as a trusted source of business news and information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for the business news team, setting editorial priorities, allocating resources, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality content across multiple platforms.
  • Oversee the planning, assignment, and production of business news articles, reports, and multimedia content, maintaining the highest journalistic standards and adherence to the organization’s editorial guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the newsroom leadership to develop and implement comprehensive business content strategies that effectively engage the target audience, drive readership and viewership, and strengthen the media conglomerate’s position as a leading provider of business news and analysis.
  • Leverage data, industry insights, and audience analytics to identify emerging trends, news priorities, and content opportunities that will resonate with the business-focused readership.
  • Manage the business news team, providing mentorship, feedback, and professional development opportunities to cultivate a talented and high-performing workforce.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson and public face of the business news coverage, representing the organization at industry events, conferences, and other public- facing initiatives.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in business journalism or news editing, with a proven track record of leading successful business news teams and delivering impactful content.
  • Deep understanding of the business landscape, including macroeconomic trends, industry dynamics, and the commercial drivers that impact organizations and consumers.
  • Exceptional news judgment, editorial skills, and the ability to identify, develop, and produce engaging, informative, and insightful business stories.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop high- performing teams of business reporters and producers.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Proficiency in utilizing data, analytics, and 2 research to inform content strategies and make data-driven decisions.
  • Commitment to upholding the highest journalistic standards and fostering a culture of integrity, accuracy, and objectivity.
