Job Description
- This job role develops strategies for transitioning from reliance on grid supply to off grid solutions (i.e. renewable energy plan, transmission & distribution, supported the traction power systems Projects) to meet customer energy needs.Â
Job Responsibilities
- Identification and development of a robust utility-led project pipelines for the improvement of energy access in IBEDC, encompassing primarily technical assistance and project preparation, with a focus on grid-connected conventional and renewable energy generation, as well as energy storage and grid infrastructure.
- Identification and development of off-grid energy project pipelines will include concessional investments (e.g. debt and investment grants) for utility-led projects.
- Supervise technical and project preparation by ensuring strong synergies with IBEDC activities at project levels, including co-financing opportunities for projects that proceed to financial close.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, notably government ministries, regulatory authorities, other utilities, renewable energy sponsors, corporates, banking and multilateral partners to develop specific investment opportunities.
- Ensure preparation, due diligence/appraisal, approval, negotiation/signing of power purchase agreements, and supervision of eligible technical assistance and project preparation support, for the purpose facilitating utility-led investments in grid-connected conventional and renewable energy generation, as well as energy storage grid infrastructure.
- Develop appropriate technical assistance projects to enhance sector planning, regulatory and institutional frameworks, to facilitate enabling conditions for utility-led investments in grid-connected conventional and renewable energy generation, as well as energy storage and grid infrastructure.
- Prepare project deliverables: prepare technical reports and other deliverables required by the project in a timely manner and with high quality writing.
- Prepares periodic and adhoc reports to relevant stakeholders. Carry out other sundry assignments as directed by CBTSO. Â
Job Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Engineering, Social Sciences or any relevant field.
- A relevant postgraduate degree will be an added advantage.
- Membership of relevant professional bodies.
- At least 7 years’ experience in a regulatory / legal function with at least 3 years’ in a supervisory position within the Utilities industry or a closely related industry.
