Job Title: Business Development Manager (Energy)

Location: Lagos

Position Summary

  • The Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and expansion of the company’s energy distribution network.
  • This role involves identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities, managing distribution operations, cultivating strong client relationships, and leading a high-performing business development team.
  • The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of PMS/AGO downstream market dynamics, client needs, and the competitive landscape, with a strong focus on execution, innovation, and strategic alignment with company goals.

Key Responsibilities
Opportunity Identification & Market Expansion:

  • Conduct market research to identify and evaluate viable downstream energy business opportunities, including new markets, client segments and partnershipsfor distribution using the FIOT platform.
  • Assess and propose new revenue channels that align with FIOT’s growth strategy.

Distribution Operations Management:

  • Identify and assess strategic approaches for effective management of FIOT’s energy delivery fleet.
  • Oversee the establishment and operational management of FIOT energy across states.
  • Ensure operational efficiency and service excellence across all FIOT client points.

Sales Strategy & Execution:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to promote FIOT’s PMS/AGO delivery and secure new business opportunities.
  • Establish effective sales pipelines and lead generation processes to drive revenue growth.
  • Set and achieve ambitious sales targets and forecasts in alignment with business objectives.

Client Acquisition & Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective clients by understanding their needs and crafting tailored proposals.
  • Manage the entire client life cycle, from onboarding to ongoing relationship development and retention.
  • Regularly pitchproducts and services to both new and existing clients to maximize value delivery.

Industry Engagement & Market Intelligence:

  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to promote FIOT and build strategic relationships.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activities to inform strategic decision-making.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with the technology and marketing teams to ensure that client requirements are accurately captured and met.
  • Provide market feedback to product and innovation teams to support continuous improvement.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing business development team.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, performance reviews, and professional development in line with company policies and goals.

Budget & Performance Management:

  • Develop and manage the business development department’s budget.
  • Monitor team performance against key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring regular reporting to senior management.
  • Implement corrective actions as necessary to ensure targets are met or exceeded.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
  • A relevant professional certification is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships, preferably in the downstream petroleum sector.
  • Strong experience in B2B/B2C sales and relationship management
  • Demonstrated success in identifying new markets and achieving sales targets.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in managing teams and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed business decisions.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
