Job Description

  • The Business Development Manager at BellPoint Energy Ltd plays a critical role in driving growth across the company’s full oil and gas value chain.
  • This individual will identify, develop, and secure profitable business opportunities, ensure exceptional satisfaction for current and prospective clients, build strategic alliances, and position BellPoint competitively within the industry through market intelligence, client engagement, and commercial strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research on industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities across upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors to inform strategy and positioning.
  • Identify potential clients across the energy sector, build and maintain strong relationships, and drive long-term engagement to unlock business opportunities.
  • Prepare compelling business proposals, technical/commercial bids, and tailored presentations that align with client and regulatory expectations.
  • Proactively identify and pursue new business ventures, contracts, and strategic projects that align with BellPoint’s growth objectives.
  • Establish and manage partnerships with key stakeholders, including regulators, suppliers, JV partners, and government agencies.
  • Lead the negotiation of commercial contracts and partnership agreements to ensure terms are aligned with business goals and profitability targets.
  • Work cross-functionally with the finance, operations, legal, and procurement teams to align business development efforts with company-wide priorities.
  • Provide regular, data-driven updates to executive management on business development progress, pipeline status, and market intelligence.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field (MBA is an advantage)
  • Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in business development within the oil & gas industry

Skills & Competencies Required:

  • Strong understanding of the oil and gas value chain: upstream, midstream, and downstream, and strong relationship-building and networking capabilities
  • Proven ability to develop and execute short- and long-term business growth strategies within the oil & gas value chain.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience in B2B models, especially within EPC, marine logistics, engineering services, and procurement.
  • Excellent relationship management skills with a track record of engaging and influencing high-level stakeholders, including IOCs, NOCs, and regulatory agencies (NUPRC, NMDPRA, NNPC, etc.).
  • Demonstrated expertise in deal structuring, contract negotiation, and closing complex commercial agreements.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks and local content compliance in Nigeria and across West Africa.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop and present winning proposals.
  • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills, with experience coordinating cross-functional efforts to deliver high-impact projects.
  • Sound financial and analytical skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and interpreting market intelligence.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a high level of ownership and accountability.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools, Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel and PowerPoint), and business intelligence platforms.
  • Strategic thinker with the agility to adapt to shifting market trends and emerging opportunities.
  • Professionalism, integrity, and a results-oriented mindset that aligns with Bellpoint Energy’s standards of excellence.
  • Ability to travel frequently for client meetings, site visits, industry events, and business development engagements across local and international locations.
