Job Title: Business Development Consultant

Location: Lekki Phase 1, Lagos
Reporting To: Managing Director / CEO

Job Summary

  • We are looking for a highly skilled Business Development Consultant with a strong background in the NGO and development sector.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying funding opportunities, developing compelling grant proposals, and building strategic partnerships that support our organization’s mission and growth.
  • This role requires someone with a proven record of securing donor funding, strong writing skills, and the ability to work collaboratively and independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities aligned with the organization’s programs and strategic objectives.
  • Research and analyze donor trends, priorities, and guidelines to inform fundraising strategies.
  • Prepare high-quality grant proposals, concept notes, and expressions of interest for submission to international donors, foundations, and agencies.
  • Collaborate with program teams to gather relevant data, impact metrics, and success stories for proposals.
  • Develop and manage a pipeline of prospective donors, monitoring submission timelines and requirements.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, partners, and other key stakeholders. Provide guidance or training to internal teams on proposal development and donor compliance, as needed.
  • Track and report on proposal outcomes, funding wins, and areas for improvement.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Business, or a related field. A PhD is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in business development, fundraising, or proposal writing within NGOs or the development sector.
  • Proven track record of securing donor funding, with examples of successful grant proposals (please include in your application).
  • Exceptional writing, research, and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and produce high-quality work. Professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to ethical standards.
