Job Description

  • The Asset Manager will be responsible for ensuring assets are properly recorded, tagged, insured, maintained, and efficiently utilized.
  • This role will collaborate with Procurement, Finance, Logistics, Legal, and external partners to ensure optimal asset performance from acquisition through disposal, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards.

Responsibilities

  • Take custody of assets immediately after procurement and ensure proper documentation, tagging, classification, and registration.
  • Collaborate with Procurement to verify asset specifications, warranties, and delivery conditions.
  • Maintain a centralized and continuously updated asset register, categorized by type, location, and assigned department.
  • Support inventory control teams in differentiating between fixed assets and operational inventory.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for trucks, tractors, generators, and other critical equipment.
  • Work with the Logistics team to track fuel usage, service records, and component replacements.
  • Provide data and insights on asset condition and lifecycle to inform CAPEX and replacement planning.
  • Assist the Finance team with depreciation tracking and forecasting of asset renewal needs.
  • Identify underutilized or aging assets and make recommendations for redeployment or disposal.
  • Ensure all insurable assets are covered under appropriate policies, with timely renewals and premium tracking.
  • Support insurance claims with necessary documentation, incident reports, and asset records.
  • Work with Security and Admin to implement asset tracking systems, surveillance coverage, and loss prevention controls.
  • Track payment schedules and manage renewal, renegotiation, and documentation of lease-related activities.
  • Maintain up-to-date property documentation, including title deeds, permits, and zoning compliance.
  • Identify obsolete, idle, or non-performing assets through regular assessments.
  • Coordinate the repair, reassignment, or disposal of such assets in accordance with company policy and regulations.
  • Liaise with government agencies to process registrations, permits, and renewals.
  • Support audit processes by providing up-to-date and accurate asset data.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to maintain records of laptops, software licenses, accessories, and digital tools.
  • Oversee IT asset lifecycle from procurement to secure disposal or reassignment.
  • Recommend sustainable alternatives for aging or inefficient assets (e.g., solar solutions, low-emission vehicles).
  • Maintain a disaster recovery asset plan including emergency equipment and backup systems.
  • Work cross-functionally with department heads to ensure seamless asset deployment and integration into operations.
  • Train staff on asset handling protocols, usage policies, and handover procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4 – 7 years of proven experience in asset management, logistics, facilities management, or inventory control.
  • Strong knowledge of asset accounting, tagging, lifecycle tracking, and compliance standards.
  • Hands-on experience managing a diverse portfolio of physical assets including vehicles, properties, and IT equipment.
  • Familiarity with lease management, insurance practices, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in Excel and asset management or ERP systems.
