Key relationships:
Dental Secretary Assistant, SAMS Zaatari Staff Members and Stakeholders.
General objective of the position: The dentist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and advising patients on various dental issues. They must provide an appropriate treatment program, monitoring and evaluating the progress of the patient’s health status, recording and documenting the treatment data, the patient’s degree of response, the extent of progress and improvement in his health status, and preparing and submitting the necessary reports. They need to be licensed to perform their duties.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Conduct oral screenings to identify diseases and infections.
- Clean teeth, remove tooth decay and plaque.
- Apply prosthetics and sealers.
- Examine patients’ medical records.
- Prepare patients for treatment (e.g. by applying oral sedation or anesthesia).
- Check teeth, gums and other parts of the mouth, along with X-rays and tests, to diagnose dental problems.
- Identify tooth decay and replace cavities with fillings.
- Conduct tooth extractions and root canal procedures.
- Perform surgeries on diseased tissues and bones.
- Prescribe medication as needed.
- Educate patients on proper brushing techniques, flossing and fluoride use.
- Promote good oral health and preventive dental care (e.g. by scheduling regular check-ups).
- Apply infection control procedures and wear personal protective equipment while working.
- Preparing and submitting health status assessment reports for patients.
Any other duties related to the work assigned to it by the direct manager.
THE CANDIDATE’S REQUIREMENTS
Mandatory Qualifications required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Dentistry.
- 2 years’ work experience preferably in humanitarian organization.
- An active dental license in Jordan from MOH is mandatory.
Competencies:
- Excellent management and coordination skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse populations.
Languages:
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills, English and Arabic.
CONTRACT CONDITIONS
The salary will be defined regarding the SAMS Jordan Office salary scale on-going.
