Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN) was established in 1998 as a non-governmental Organization to serve as a collective voice of PLHIV in the Country. The Organization is registered with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in Nigeria in September 2004.

NEPWHAN is now Seventeen (17) Years Old as a vibrant patient community network in Nigeria. The network formed since 1998 has established structures at the zonal and all States including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and as well saddled with the responsibility of coordinating, supervising and monitoring activities and programs of over 1, 030 support groups membership across the Federation making it one of the biggest Patient network in Africa. Our GOALNEPWHAN has formed constituent bodies; Association of Youth Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (APYIN), Association of Women Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (ASWHAN), Association of Religious Leaders Living with and Personally Affected by HIV/AIDS (NINERELA+) to advocate and provide HIV programming intervention for the specific needs of their targets and members.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Consultancy on Qualitative Data Analysis and Success Story Writing

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Background

  • Having pioneered the implementation of the community-led monitoring (CLM) of HIV services in Nigeria since 2020, where qualitative data collection and analysis is the bedrock and the composition of compelling success stories is needed to showcase results, we are seeking a consultant with expertise in qualitative data analysis and success story writing to support our organization in capturing and analyzing qualitative data and writing compelling success stories.
  • The team consists of individuals from the M & E, and program departments who are have been carrying out various forms of data analysis and report writing or the organisation, and will require guidance on various aspects of the process.
  • The goal is to enhance their understanding of qualitative data collection, analysis, and interpretation to improve the quality of research and survey outputs.
  • The consultant will work closely with our team to review and analyse existing qualitative data collected under the CLM since inception, as well as develop engaging success stories that highlight the impact of our programs.

Goal

  • The goal is to enhance their understanding qualitative data collection, analysis, interpretation and writing of compelling success stories that will improve the quality of survey outputs and reports.

Objectives of the Activities

  • Conduct qualitative data analysis to extract key themes, insights, and lessons learned from exiting qualitative data on CLM.
  • Train our team members on qualitative data collection techniques, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Support the team in designing and implementing qualitative data collection tools and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with program participants to gather qualitative feedback and success stories.
  • Develop success story templates and guidelines to ensure consistency in formatting and content.
  • Create compelling success stories that effectively communicate the impact of our programs to a variety audience.
  • Provide guidance and support in selecting appropriate data visualization and presentation methods for qualitative data and success stories.
  • Introduce the team to different methods of qualitative data analysis, such as thematic analysis, grounded theory, and content
  • Train the team on how to organize, code, and manage qualitative data efficiently.
  • Guide the team in critically interpreting and synthesizing qualitative data to generate meaningful insights.
  • Address common challenges and ethical considerations in qualitative research.
  • Provide hands-on training using qualitative analysis software (if applicable).
  • Offer ongoing support and guidance during and after the training sessions to assist the team in implementing the learned techniques effectively.

Scope of Work

  • Review existing program documents, reports, and data sources to identify relevant qualitative data for analysis.
  • Develop a comprehensive training curriculum and detailed training materials, including presentations, exercises, and case studies.
  • Conduct 5 days interactive training sessions, based on the agreed schedule.
  • Ensure the training methodologies and materials are engaging, clear, and accessible for participants with varying levels of expertise.
  • Provide hands-on exercises and practical examples to reinforce learning.
  • Foster an environment that encourages questions and discussion among participants.
  • Offer post-training support through email or virtual meetings to answer any questions and provide additional guidance.
  • Review and provide feedback on the ongoing qualitative analysis work.
  • Identify key themes, patterns, and lessons learned from the qualitative data analysis process.
  • Provide clear and concise summaries of the qualitative data analysis findings.
  • Provide guidance on best practices for conducting qualitative data analysis, including coding, categorization, and interpretation.
  • Build the capacity of our team in analyzing and synthesizing qualitative data to inform program decision-making.
  • Collaborate with participants to identify success stories and collect qualitative feedback.
  • Develop success story templates and guidelines for consistent and effective storytelling.
  • Craft compelling success stories that effectively communicate the impact of our programs.
  • Ensure success stories are engaging, concise, and align with our organization’s mission and values.
  • Present success stories using appropriate data visualization techniques, such as infographics or photos.
  • Prepare and submit report highlighting the activities, outcomes, and challenges encountered during the consultancy period.
  • Document the processes, methodologies, and lessons learned from the qualitative data analysis and success story development.

Deliverables

  • Training materials and resources on qualitative data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Detailed training curriculum and materials, including presentations, exercises, and case studies.
  • Completed success stories that showcase the impact of our programs.
  • Success story templates and guidelines for future use.
  • Data visualizations and presentations to accompany the success stories.
  • Progress report documenting activities, outcomes, challenges, and lessons learned.
  • Completed training sessions, including documentation of participation and feedback.
  • Follow-up support provided to the team, including responses to queries and guidance on qualitative analysis work.

Timeline:

  • The consultancy period is expected to be completed within a 10 days period. This includes 5 days review existing data and reports, followed by five (5) days training on qualitative data processes and success story development and finalization.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree / HND qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years proven expertise in qualitative data analysis, including experience in designing and conducting qualitative research studies.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in delivering training and workshops on qualitative data analysis, preferably in a research or academic setting.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to tailor training materials and approaches to the needs of diverse participants.
  • Strong understanding of different qualitative data analysis techniques, methodologies, and data visualization methods.
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with a demonstrated ability to craft compelling success stories with minimum of 5 years’ experience
  • Experience in training and capacity building on qualitative data analysis and success story development.
  • Familiarity with international development and/or non-profit sectors is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software and tools, such as NVivo or MAXQDA, is an advantage.
