Job Title: Senior Accountant

Job Description

  • They are is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee financial operations, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and support strategic financial planning.
  • The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining financial integrity, optimizing reporting accuracy, and supporting management decision-making.

Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Prepare and review accurate financial reports, statements, and reconciliations.
  • Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to management.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

Accounting Operations:

  • Oversee general ledger management, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Supervise accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Monitor cash flow and bank reconciliations for all business accounts.
  • Maintain compliance with financial regulations, internal policies, and corporate governance standards.

Transaction Processing & Compliance:

  • Process and review all financial transactions, including payments, leases, and vendor settlements.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and posting of all leasing-related transactions.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory authorities during audits and inspections.
  • Stay updated on Nigerian tax laws, financial regulations, and accounting best practices.

Month-End & Year-End Closings:

  • Lead month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare and review schedules for management and statutory reporting.
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts and support consolidation processes.

Requirements

  • B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • 4 – 6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the leasing, financial services, or real estate sector.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (IFRS) and Nigerian tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and organizational ability.
  • Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
