Job Title: Commercial Director – Freight Sales & Strategy

Job Summary

  • As we scale new commercial frontiers, we are seeking a dynamic Commercial Director to lead growth strategy, deepen market engagement, and drive sustainable revenue across multimodal freight offerings.
  • This is a high-impact leadership role at the center of our commercial engine.
  • You will drive sales growth, lead client acquisition and retention strategies, refine pricing models, and shape market-facing service innovation.
  • We’re looking for someone with deep freight expertise, strategic acumen, and the ability to drive value across key industry verticals , from client boardrooms to customs desks.

Responsibilities
Growth Strategy & Client Development:

  • Lead commercial expansion across sea and air freight services.
  • Strengthen relationships with key clients and build new strategic accounts.
  • Guide a performance-driven sales team with clear goals and high accountability.

Sales & Market Penetration:

  • Identify and convert high-volume business opportunities across international import/export segments.
  • Develop sector-specific approaches targeting telecoms, oil & gas, FMCG, and infrastructure.
  • Personally lead major pitches, pricing discussions, and negotiations.

Pricing & Revenue Management:

  • Build pricing structures that balance competitiveness with profitability.
  • Respond swiftly to shifts in FX, duties, and logistics costs.
  • Oversee quotation processes, discounting approvals, and key account performance.

Service Innovation & Positioning:

  • Enhance and reposition existing services to better align with market needs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to introduce tailored DDP/EXW solutions.
  • Champion Kerildbert’s air freight offering as a premium, time-sensitive service.

Market Visibility & Industry Leadership:

  • Represent Kerildbert across industry forums, partnerships, and strategic platforms.
  • Monitor competitive activity and track industry shifts to maintain an edge.

KPI

  • Drive N2–5 billion in new business annually
  • Win 3–5 high-value strategic accounts per quarter
  • Achieve 90%+ client retention rate
  • Improve profitability across core lanes and services
  • Launch or reposition 2+ strategic service lines within the first year

Requirements
Experience & Credentials:

  • 10+ years in freight forwarding or logistics (International/West Africa focus)
  • Proven leadership at or against top-tier firms like Maersk, DHL, Bolloré, Sifax, GMT, etc.
  • Strong track record in sales performance, client growth, and team development
  • Sector Targeting: High-volume importers, AfCFTA corridor users.
  • In-depth knowledge of customs brokerage, Incoterms, sea/air freight operations.
