Solidarités International (SI) is an international humanitarian NGO which, for more than 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their vital needs for food, water and shelter. Particularly involved in the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the first cause of death in the world, SI’s interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in around twenty countries, SI’s teams – 2000 people in total made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, and a few volunteers – work with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.

Solidarités International (SI) is determined to prevent and fight all type of abuse – all act of exploitation, abuse and/or sexual harassment (SEAH) against members of beneficiary communities or collaborators, fraud, corruption, violation of persons and/or property, funding of activities harmful to human rights – that could be perpetrated in the frame of its interventions. SI implements a zero-tolerance policy regarding acts of SEAH.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Reporting and Communication Officer

Locations: Abuja (FCT) and Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Full-time

Mission / Objectives

  • The Reporting and Communications Officer plays a central role in ensuring effective documentation, communication, and coordination across project teams and partners.
  • This includes the production of high-quality reports, coordination of inputs from various departments, preparation of communication materials for internal and external use, and supporting organizational governance and strategic communication processes.
  • The Officer works closely with program leadership, technical teams (MEAL, WASH, Shelter, Health, Protection), and support units (Grants, Compliance, Finance, and Logistics) to ensure timely, accurate, and professional communication that reflects the organization’s goals and standards.

Description of the Position
Donor Reporting And Communications:

  • Lead the development and submission of high-quality narrative reports in collaboration with technical leads and program teams.
  • Coordinate partner inputs and ensure that reports meet donor requirements, deadlines, and quality standards.
  • Support monitoring activities by triangulating data from MEAL systems, assessment reports, and partner submissions.
  • Ensure that reporting formats, timelines, and guidelines are clearly communicated and followed.
  • Develop tools and templates to streamline the reporting process across teams.
  • Review and finalize internal documents such as situation reports, monthly updates, and project overviews in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Proofread and quality-check documentation including BOQs and donor communications before submission.

Governance Support:

  • Maintain up-to-date documentation including manuals, contact lists, and program guides to support coordination and strategic planning.
  • Support the preparation and facilitation of internal governance meetings (e.g., Technical Working Groups, Steering Committees), including agenda setting, documentation, and follow-up on action points.
  • Take accurate minutes during meetings and ensure timely circulation to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the preparation of presentations, briefing packs, and communications for external meetings with donors and partners.
  • Organize and archive key project and grant documents, ensuring accessibility through shared drives and digital platforms.

Coordination And Communication:

  • Attend and document key coordination meetings across departments and projects.
  • Ensure timely communication of key decisions and updates across teams using established tools and channels.
  • Monitor and disseminate relevant external context information to inform programming and decision-making.
  • Provide ad hoc cross-departmental support, especially to the Chief of Party or Project Director, in tasks such as reviewing training materials, preparing technical justifications, or consolidating inputs for reports.

Profile Forsaken

  • Studies: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Humanitarian Response, International Cooperation, Development Studies or closely related discipline is required.
  • Experience: Candidate must possess 2 years of practical experience in a similar role preferably within an international NGO.
  • Proven experience in donor reporting, especially for institutional donors such as USAID, ECHO, FCDO, etc.. Previous experience with Solidarités International is highly desirable.
  • Languages: Strong communication skills are essential, with fluency in English mandatory.
  • Personal Qualities: Candidate should have Excellent written and verbal communication, Critical and innovative thinking, Intrapersonal & interpersonal skills, ability to manage multiple priorities, Experience working with government counterparts and other partners at various levels.
  • Technical Skills: Excellent knowledge of the humanitarian project cycle management. Good knowledge of the humanitarian donors’ policies and guidelines. Excellent reporting and writing skills. Familiarity with information management systems and digital document archiving.
  • Computer Skills: The candidate should demonstrate solid proficiency in MS Office applications—particularly Word, PowerPoint, and advanced Excel.
  • He / She should demonstrate Proficiency in the application and integration of technology to enhance reporting (Data Collection and Analysis, Monitoring and Evaluation, Management, etc).
