Job Description

  • We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on Head of Finance to lead the financial strategy, planning,
  • and operations of our organization.
  • This role is critical to shaping our business model, enablingsustainable growth, and ensuring financial discipline as we scale.
  • You’ll be responsible for designing financial systems, building robust models, tracking key financial and operational metrics, and ensuring compliance with local and international standards.
  • You will work closely with the CEO, functional leads, and external partners to drive financial performance and transparency.

Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Leadership:

  • Own the financial strategy and long-term financial planning process.
  • Define and optimize unit economics for core and new service offerings.
  • Partner with the executive team to guide pricing, expansion, and fundraising strategies.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):

  • Build and maintain robust financial models, forecasts, and budgets.
  • Track key financial and operational metrics to inform decision-making.
  • Conduct scenario planning to support strategic and fundraising decisions.

Accounting & Reporting:

  • Oversee preparation of timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial
  • statements.
  • Lead the development of managerial accounts and financial reporting systems.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, IFRS (or GAAP), and audit requirements.
  • Preparation of quarterly board reports.

Policies, Controls & Compliance:

  • Design and implement financial policies, internal controls, and risk management processes.
  • Establish procurement, expense, and financial approval processes.
  • Ensure financial discipline and transparency across the organization.
  • Investor Relations & Grant Finance Management
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with investors, financial institutions, and partners.
  • Oversee capital management initiatives, including fundraising and optimizing capital *structure, to fuel ambitious growth.
  • Manage financial aspects of donor and grant-funded projects, including budgeting, compliance, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for donors and funding partners.
  • Coordinate with program teams to ensure alignment of financial and programmatic reporting.

Team & Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and lead a lean finance team as the company grows.
  • Manage relationships with banks, investors, regulators, auditors, and grant funders.
  • Support fundraising and investor relations with financial analysis, due diligence
  • documentation, and investor reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. MBA, CPA, ICAN,
  • ACCA, or CFA certification highly preferred.
  • 8 – 10 years of experience in finance, ideally with a blend of startup, healthcare, or tech
  • experience.
  • Proven experience developing and managing financial models and forecasts.
  • Deep understanding of unit economics, cost optimization, and pricing strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and Nigerian tax and regulatory environment.
  • Proven track record managing donor funds and preparing grant financial reports (e.g., for
  • foundations, bilateral/multilateral agencies, or NGOs).
  • Hands-on experience setting up and managing financial systems, tools, and internal
  • controls in early-stage or scaling environments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
