Together with the affected communities we work on the RECOVERY until they can provide to take care of their livelihoods.  ZOA work in fifteen countries in Africa, Middle East Region and Asia and have approximately 1000 employees worldwide. 

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Peace Building Project Officer

Location: Bama, Borno
Duration position: Fix Term – One Year (Renewable position based on the need)
Work hours: Full-time
Starting date: As soon as possible

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design, coordination, and implementation of peacebuilding activities and projects aligned with program objectives.
  • Conduct participatory conflict and conflict sensitivity analyses to identify drivers of instability and opportunities for peace.
  • Establish and support peacebuilding committees, including vulnerable groups such as women, youth, IDPs, and returnees, providing training on negotiation, mediation, and non-violent conflict resolution.
  • Facilitate community dialogues, workshops, and forums to promote understanding, social cohesion, and conflict-sensitive programming.
  • Monitor project progress, identify challenges, and propose adaptive measures to ensure effective implementation.
  • Foster strong relationships with community members, local authorities, security providers, and other stakeholders to coordinate activities and avoid duplication.
  • Contribute to the development of project proposals, budgets, and reports.
  • Support capacity building of local partners and community groups engaged in peacebuilding.
  • Promote the integration of peacebuilding principles across related humanitarian and development interventions.

Additional Functions (depending on organization):

  • Produce analytical reports, policy papers, and lessons learned on peacebuilding.
  • Support compliance, reporting, and financial management related to peacebuilding programs.
  • Engage in partnerships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Mainstream gender and youth considerations into peacebuilding efforts.
  • Monitor conflict trends and advise leadership on emerging peacebuilding opportunities and threats.
  • This role requires strong facilitation, communication, and conflict analysis skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in complex and sensitive environments to foster sustainable peace and social cohesion

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, International Relations, Political Science, Development Studies, Sociology, or other related Social Sciences.

  • Able to work under pressure and with strict deadlines;
  • Able to work in a sometimes fluid and insecure environment.

Special Conditions:

  • Frequent travel to in field locations within the programme area, and to other ZOA programme locations and stay with project implementation team for further guidance and support.
