University Librarian at University of Uyo (UNIUYO)


University of Uyo (UNIUYO) is located in Uyo, capital of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The university was formerly known as the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS). On October 1st, 1991 the Federal government of Nigeria established it as a federal university and the name was changed to the University of Uyo. The university inherited students, staff, academic programmes and the entire facilities of the erstwhile University of Cross River State established by Cross River State in 1983. Academic activities commenced during the 1991/92 academic session. UNIUYO has 12 faculties, the postgraduate school and the school of continuing Education.

Job Title: University Librarian

Location: Uyo, Akwa Ibom

Duties

  • The University Librarian shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the overall administration of the University Library, branches and extension and for providing library services for the entire University Community.

Qualification and Experience
Candidates for this post must:

  • Possess a good honours Degree in Library Science from a recognized University, plus a higher degree (preferably a Ph.D) with at least fifteen (15) years of relevant experience, preferably in a University;
  • Be professionally qualified and practicing librarians;
  • Have contributed to knowledge through research and publications in reputable journals, as well as possess proven records of sound administrative leadership;
  • Not be below the rank of a Deputy Librarian;
  • Be a person of proven integrity.

Tenure

  • The tenure of the University Librarian, as a Principal Officer of the University, is for a single term of five (5) years.

Salary and Conditions of Service

  • The successful applicant will be placed on CONUASS 7, with relevant fringe benefits and will equally enjoy the allowances normally attached to the position of principal officers in Nigerian Universities.
