
The Leventis Foundation (Nigeria) is a charitable company dedicated to the training of farmers in modern and sustainable agricultural practices and rational use of natural resources.
The Foundation has been running agricultural training for youths and farmers since 1987 and currently has six schools in different agro-ecological zones of Nigeria. The schools located in the FCT, Osun, Kaduna, Kano and Gombe states are co-financed by Leventis Foundation and the respective State Governments. All the schools offer training to young people (male and female) desirous of making a good career in farming. The comprehensive one-year training exposes the participants to several areas of agriculture and other farm businesses.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: School Nurse
Location: Kano
Job Description
- The School Nurse is responsible for supporting the health and well-being of students by providing direct health care, promoting health education, etc.
- The nurse collaborates with educators, healthcare providers to ensure a safe and healthy school environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all students.
- Screen students for vision, hearing, scoliosis, and other health issues.
- Monitor and follow up on student immunization records in line with state or national requirements.
- Educate students and staff on health topics such as hygiene, nutrition, mental health, and disease prevention.
- Promote healthy lifestyle choices within the school community.
- Participate in developing individualized education plans (IEPs) or health plans for students with special needs.
- Monitor for signs of communicable diseases and report outbreaks to appropriate authorities.
- Implement health and safety protocols to prevent the spread of infections.
- Serve as a liaison between school, home, and healthcare providers.
- Communicate with parents/guardians about student health issues and concerns.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to support student well-being.
- Maintain accurate documentation of health services provided.
- Prepare and submit required health reports to local/state agencies.
- Order and manage medical supplies and equipment.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) license required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Certification in school nursing (where applicable) is an advantage.
