About you:
We are seeking a talented and creative scriptwriter to join our team. As a scriptwriter, you will be responsible for crafting compelling and engaging scripts for a variety of mediums including movies, jingles, dramas, and TV. Your ability to captivate audiences through well-written narratives and dialogues will be key to the success of our projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Script Development: Develop original and captivating scripts for movies, jingles, dramas, and TV shows, adhering to project requirements and objectives. Collaborate with directors, producers, and other team members to understand the project’s vision and tailor scripts accordingly.
- Research: Conduct thorough research to gather relevant information and insights for script development. Ensure accuracy and authenticity in portraying characters, settings, and plot elements.
- Storytelling: Craft compelling storylines that resonate with the target audience. Develop multi-dimensional characters with relatable motivations and arcs. Create well-paced plots that maintain interest and build suspense.
- Dialogue Writing: Write authentic and engaging dialogue that brings characters to life. Adapt dialogue style based on the tone and genre of the project, whether it’s comedic, dramatic, or action-packed.
- Genre Adaptation: Demonstrate versatility by adapting writing styles to suit various genres, from light-hearted comedies to intense dramas. Understand the nuances of different genres and tailor scripts accordingly.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with directors, producers, and other creative team members. Accept and incorporate feedback to enhance script quality and align with project objectives.
- Revision and Refinement: Continuously revise and refine scripts based on feedback, industry trends, and project developments. Strive for excellence in every aspect of scriptwriting, from character development to plot structure.
- Deadlines: Manage and meet deadlines for script delivery. Work efficiently to ensure scripts are completed within the specified time frames without compromising on quality.
- Adherence to Guidelines: Ensure scripts adhere to industry standards, guidelines, and requirements. Address any legal or ethical concerns related to the content of the script.
- Innovation: Bring fresh and innovative ideas to script development. Experiment with unconventional storytelling techniques to create unique and memorable scripts.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a scriptwriter, with a strong portfolio showcasing a variety of projects across different mediums.
- Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, syntax, and vocabulary.
- In-depth understanding of storytelling techniques, plot structure, and character development.
- Familiarity with various genres and the ability to adapt writing styles accordingly.
- Strong research skills to ensure accuracy and authenticity in script content.
- Effective collaboration skills and the ability to accept and incorporate feedback.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Creative thinking and a willingness to push the boundaries of conventional scriptwriting.
- Knowledge of industry trends, audience preferences, and content regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in film, Media, Theatre/Performing Arts, Creative Writing, English, or a related field.
- Experience in writing for different mediums such as movies, TV shows, commercials, and jingles.
- Proficiency in scriptwriting software and tools.
- Knowledge of visual storytelling principles and how they translate to screen.
- Understanding of the production process and the role of a scriptwriter within it.
- Salary and conditions: In accordance with GPON Terms of Employment. The income will be subject to statutory deductions as per applicable Nigeria laws. The employee is responsible for the tax returns.
