Job Summary

  • Are you a strategic operator who leads with purpose, financial discipline, and a bias for execution? Katsu MFB is looking for a visionary and mission-driven Managing Director to lead our Microfinance Bank into its next phase of inclusive growth. 
  • The Managing Director will be responsible for developing and executing the bank’s strategic vision, driving profitability, fostering innovation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks, ensuring it remains competitive, innovative, and scalable. 
  • You will oversee business growth, digital transformation, risk management, and operational excellence while leading a high-performing team.
  • This role is ideal for a seasoned banking professional with a deep understanding of microfinance, commercial banking, and business development. 
  • The ideal candidate should be technologically savvy, commercially astute, and capable of driving innovative financial solutions.

What you will be doing

  • Lead the bank’s multi-branch operating model, ensuring cohesion between strategic intent and execution across credit, savings, digital channels, compliance, and customer operations.
  • Drive day-to-day performance across the value chain—from loan origination and recovery to customer service, field operations, and internal controls.
  • Design and implement operational systems that support high-growth scale while tightly managing cost, risk, and portfolio quality.
  • Oversee regional and branch operations, setting KPIs, SLAs, and governance cadences across all business units and locations.
  • Act as executive sponsor for strategic initiatives—including digital transformation, agent banking, product innovation, and funding—ensuring cross-functional delivery and measurable impact.
  • Lead annual and quarterly business planning cycles, including performance forecasting, goal-setting, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with Product, Technology, and Credit teams to build inclusive, data-driven financial products that meet customer needs and drive sustainable portfolio growth.
  • Build and empower a high-performance leadership team, fostering a culture of integrity, impact, and operational excellence.

Special Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field; MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in banking and financial technology services, with a strong background in microfinance, commercial banking, or retail banking with 7years in a leadership position.
  • A track record of driving business growth, financial performance, and digital transformation
  • Deep knowledge of microfinance banking models, SME lending, financial inclusion, and digital banking.
  • Prior leadership experience in an executive management level within a regulated financial institution.
  • Experience in credit risk management, loan portfolio management, and operational risk mitigation.
    Strong understanding of CBN regulations, licensing requirements, and financial compliance standards.
