Project Overview
- In collaboration with Mercy Corps Nigeria, WINN is implementing the protection sector of THRIVE consortium project, a project focusing on empowering crisis-affected IDPs, returnees, and host communities in Jere LGA.
- THRIVE seeks to prevent and address GBV by establishing safe spaces, engaging adolescents, training leaders, promoting social cohesion, conducting awareness campaigns, and improving access to essential services.
Job Summary
- We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated IT & Communication Officer to join our team at WINN. As an IT & Communication Officer, you will play a pivotal role in leveraging technology and effective communication strategies to further WINN’s mission of empowering women and youth, advocating for social change, and driving community development. Your role will span both the technical aspects of IT management and the creative realms of communication and content creation.
Duties and Responsibilities
IT Solutions and Management:
- Oversee WINN’s IT infrastructure’s design, implementation, and maintenance, ensuring operational efficiency and data security.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to identify technology needs and implement innovative solutions to enhance WINN’s programs and initiatives.
- Provide technical support to staff members, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and offer guidance on IT best practices.
- Implement cybersecurity measures to safeguard WINN’s digital assets and sensitive information.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends, recommending and implementing relevant advancements to drive organizational success.
Communication Strategy and Content Creation:
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies that align with WINN’s objectives and target audiences.
- Create compelling and impactful content for various communication channels, including websites, social media platforms, press releases, newsletters, and reports.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather relevant information and insights for accurate and engaging content creation.
- Craft messages and narratives that effectively convey WINN’s mission, values, and accomplishments to a diverse audience.
- Monitor communication trends and adjust strategies as needed to maximize reach and engagement.
Digital Presence and Multimedia:
- Manage and enhance WINN’s digital presence, including website management, SEO optimization, and online branding.
- Utilize multimedia tools to create engaging content such as videos, infographics, and interactive presentations that effectively convey WINN’s impact and initiatives.
- Analyze website and social media performance metrics to track engagement, identify trends, and make data-driven improvements.
- Stay attuned to visual design principles and branding guidelines to ensure consistent and impactful communication across all digital platforms.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with diverse teams within WINN to understand their IT and communication needs, and provide tailored support and solutions.
- Work closely with the Marketing team to align communication efforts with overall branding and promotional strategies.
- Engage with external partners, stakeholders, and NGOs to foster strong relationships and promote collaborative initiatives.
Training and Capacity Building:
- Conduct training sessions for staff members to enhance their IT skills, digital literacy, and effective communication techniques.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and communication trends, sharing insights with the team.
- Champion the adoption of new tools and technologies to improve efficiency, communication, and collaboration within WINN.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Sciences, Communications, Digital Marketing, or a related field. Advanced degrees and relevant certifications are a plus.
- 3 years of proven experience in IT management, system administration, cybersecurity, and communication strategies.
- Good with photography graphic design software like Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.
- Strong proficiency in content creation, digital marketing, web development, SEO, and multimedia content production.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and creativity.
- Experience with graphic design, video editing, or multimedia content creation tools is highly desirable.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Passion for social impact, gender equality, and community development is essential.
- Strong interpersonal, intercultural, and communication skills
- Excellent oral and written skills and computer skills
- Fluency in English, Kanuri, and Hausa is required.
