Job Title: Mechanical Engineer – Gas Engine Generators (Wartsila, Jenbacher, Cummins)

Location: Abeokuta, Ogun state
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • We are looking for a highly experienced Mechanical Engineer with over 4 years in the power generation sector, particularly in the operation, maintenance, and servicing of gas engine generators such as Wärtsilä, Jenbacher, and Cummins.
  • The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and performance of our power systems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of gas engine generator sets (Wärtsilä, Jenbacher, Cummins).
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot engine faults and mechanical issues.
  • Perform regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and overhaul of generator systems.
  • Monitor engine performance and implement corrective measures to optimize efficiency.
  • Interpret technical manuals, engine specifications, and schematic diagrams.
  • Prepare maintenance logs, technical reports, and service documentation.
  • Lead or support engine installation, commissioning, and performance testing.
  • Collaborate with electrical, instrumentation, and operations teams on system integration.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 4+ years of proven experience working with gas engine generator brands including Wärtsilä, Jenbacher, and Cummins.
  • Strong knowledge of engine systems, combustion principles, and gas-based power generation.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting tools, diagnostic software, and maintenance procedures.
  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is an advantage.
  • Solid understanding of OEM guidelines and manufacturer service procedures.
