About the role

• The Credit Recovery Legal Specialist oversees all loan recovery cases requiring legal expertise, offering legal guidance and coordinating with internal and external legal teams. 
• The primary goal is to ensure that recovery efforts through Nigeria’s legal system are both effective and efficient.
• You will collaborate with internal teams and external legal partners to maximize recovery efforts while mitigating legal risks. Additionally, you will provide valuable insights and recommendations to streamline future recovery cases while supporting the company’s growth objectives.
• Furthermore, you may be responsible for identifying and collaborating with key legal partners nationwide to ensure the effective management of non-performing loan cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee litigation proceedings against defaulting borrowers.
• Establish a nationwide network of legal partners to efficiently manage loan recovery litigation
• Ensure all loan recovery activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements, reducing potential legal risks to the bank.
• Ensure that all loan recovery documentation is legally sound and enforceable.
• Maintain proper records of legal cases and recovery proceedings.
• Ensure adherence to banking regulations, court procedures, and debt recovery laws.
• Provide legal guidance on recovery strategies and enforcement of loan agreement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB)
• 5-7 years of experience in debt recovery/litigation in Nigeria
• Strong knowledge of debt recovery laws, banking regulations, and court procedures in Nigeria.
• Proficiency in legal research and case management
• Proven experience in handling non-performing loans and legal enforcement actions.
