Your mission
The purpose of the position is to ensure that War Child’s financial transactions and operations are compliant with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies. The role will provide technical support to country teams, conduct financial reviews, and identify areas for improvement, working closely with the Regional Operational Support Manager and Country teams to support the Global, Regional and Country Strategies of the organization. The position supports Country teams to deliver through working closely with them on accounting workflows and system processes to ensure that complete, accurate and reliable financial information is available in real-time to support Country and Region decision making.
What you will do:
Financial Management and Compliance
- Ensure accounting processes comply with financial laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
- Conduct regular financial reviews to ensure coding accuracy and correct accounting treatment of transactions.
- Identify and report financial risks to the Regional Operations Support Manager.
- Review of all expenditure on the Regional Budget.
- Compile and prepare 4M/8M & 12M reports for ROSM review.
Technical Support and Capacity Building
- Provide technical support to country teams on financial matters.
- Support country teams with period-end processes, ensuring complete transaction posting and reconciliation of all Balance Sheet Accounts.
- Provide training and support for country teams on financial compliance and management.
- Support with the Regional Annual Planning process.
Grant Management, Audit, and Reporting
- Track Regional Grant Milestones, sharing with country teams on donor report due dates.
- Ensure that Grant Information is up to date in the Grant Management system (Rafiki).
- Perform Regional BVA analysis and flag any outliers to the Regional Operations Support Manager for action.
- Provide audit support to the country teams and maintain an audit findings and recommendations schedule for follow-up with the country teams.
- Track Country filing and ensure SharePoint folders are updated with the most recent information.
Your profile
- Accounting & Financial Principles – Knowledge of accounting, financial regulations, and management practices.
- Grant Management – Understanding of grant management principles, regulations, and practices.
- Financial Software Proficiency – Experience with Agresso/Unit 4, grant management systems, and spreadsheets.
- Budgeting & Forecasting – Ability to prepare and manage budgets, financial plans, and forecasts.
- Risk Management – Knowledge of financial risk identification, assessment, and mitigation.
- Audit & Compliance – Understanding of audit principles, practices, and financial regulations.
- Financial Reporting & Communication – Ability to present financial data clearly to stakeholders.
- Financial Analysis & Problem-Solving – Skills in analyzing data, identifying issues, and developing solutions.
- Accuracy & Attention to Detail – Ensuring precision in financial transactions and reports.
- Project & Time Management – Ability to prioritize tasks, manage projects, and meet deadlines.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement – Working effectively with colleagues and external partners.
- Adaptability – Ability to adjust to changes in financial regulations and organizational policies.
- Coaching & Mentorship – Supporting colleagues in financial planning, budgeting, and reporting.
- Professional Certification – CPA, CA, or equivalent.
- Education – Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience – At least five years in financial management, accounting, or grant management.
What we offer
- Location : We work with global teams with team members being based in different locations. Any country where WCA has presence in Africa & Colombia Region (Uganda, DRC,CAR, South Sudan & Colombia) Preference is given to applicants who reside and have valid working permits. War Child does not offer relocation.
- Contract Duration : One Year (renewable subject to performance and budget )
